This was an easy replacement - the Danco diverter is identical to the original Delta one. A 7/8 inch deep socket makes the job easier.

This review is for the "Danco 80971 Push-Button Diverter". This part is an exact-fit replacement for certain old model Delta Tub/Shower diverters. Assuming you can get to the old diverter (I had to cut away a little of the fiberglass tub enclosure in order to get a socket on the old diverter to unscrew it), it is very easy to install. After 3 decades, the plastic tab on the end of the shaft of my old Delta diverter had broken off, which prevented the valve from closing off the water to the tub spout and diverting the water to the shower head. It also caused it to shoot water out around the shaft whenever you attempted to push it in. The new Danco replacement resolved that issue and seems to work well. I just hope it will last as long as the original Delta diverter, as if it does, it will probably outlast me!I might should have given it a 5-star rating, but as I've only had it installed a short while, I don't know how durable it will be.

Worked great for a few months. NOT RUST PROOF. Small amount of rust caused the pin to snap resulting in the diverter spring to come flying out followed along by a forceful stream of water. Need another replacement but will seek another source.

Our old shower control broke and the plumber quoted over $600 to replace the entire delta faucet and control. Glad I listened to my pocketbook screaming 'highway robbery'. Ordered and installed in less than 20 minutes. Shower works great and I still have a few bucks in the bank. Wife happier too!

My old Delta shower diverter stopped working - the shaft had corroded. This is the matching part and it has worked perfectly as a replacement for me. The fit is exact and externally is virtually identical looking with the original. my bath switches to shower and back again when the shower shuts off easily and reliably. The old one had some leaking (a dribble from a faucet usually) but the new one eliminated that for me.I'm really happy with this replacement diverter. It's a lot less work than replacing the whole valve! Both time saving and inexpensive makes this a 5 star product for me.
