Does a great job of keeping things going down the sink into the garbage disposal. Really nice product.

Just moved onto a new house with garbage disposal. Had been trying to use drain stopper that came with it, tipped sideways so water could flow and cutlery couldn't -- which didn't work well, and was super ugly. Now, I smile everytime I use the sink. This protector fits my 3 3/8" drain perfectly, is super cute, and is super functional. It does seem to hold water well when twisted shut, allows disposal of small bits when open, and is easy to pull out for disposal of larger items. This purchase makes me very happy :-)

We had the old traditional garbage disposal, drain stopper that would always get stuck and never let enough water through to properly dispose of stuff without shoving a wooden spoon down there. This thing actually worked pretty well and letting water pass through along with debris and lets air through when disposal is turned on. The little rubber spatula looking thing at the bottom confused me at first, and I did not know why it was even there, but as it turns out, it is a nice way of just scooping debris from throughout the sink into the drain before you run it. It does allow you to turn the top and close the holes to keep drain. Smells out of the house. It acts as a good stopper to fill the sink up as well.

I am very happy with this disposer sink device. It allows smaller food particles through, and keeps larger items (spoons, scrubbers, plastic lids) from getting into the disposer. In addition, the sink can be completely plugged bu turning the known, and by lifting it out there’s a handy plate scraper too. Very functional and not at all annoying like some other strainers that always become clogged.

I love this. I've never had a garbage disposal and now have one. And I'm always afraid that something that shouldn't go done it will I've tried regular strainers but I wanted to be able to have water in there it works great and it has a scraper!

I have a garbage disposal in the sink, so all the strainer sink stoppers are counterproductive - I don't want to filter out the little chunks, I want them in the disposal! I had a terrible plastic sphincter thing, where the middle had a cross cut in it for chunks to go through, but it was flimsy and letting lots of other things through too, and you really don't want some things in your disposal, like, oh, knives, rings and cat food cans! So I grabbed this, and it works great. In the open setting, it has six medium sized openings between six arms. Just small enough no silverware is going down there, but the small chunks pass through no problem. Just twist it to close it if you need it, and if you've got something larger to go down, just grab the middle (there's a lip) and pop it out.It also comes with a food scraper on the underside which honestly I do not think I will ever use, because it requires taking it out of the drain when I could just use the, you know, scrub brush I have for the sink! But for the price and functionality I'm not going to penalize this for having it, will just ignore it.

Water flow is slowed down when in place but works as intended

Good at keeping forks and knives from falling down the garbage disposal. Heavy thick material that keeps it in place and no need to remove it to run the disposal.

Works exactly as expected and looks good too. A must have for anybody with a garburator.

When I decided to buy it it was like "ok, one more gadget that I'll use for a couple of days and then donate to the thrift store."Nope!THe Disposal genie surprised me under all aspects. It's exactly as described, but the product sturdiness and quality are way better than I was expecting. It's inexpensive and BRILLIANT!It fits perfectly (and even with some pressure to keep it correctly in place) in my In-Sink-Erator disposer. Water flows actually faster, because the disposal genie keeps the disposer's rubber splash guard more open, allowing water to flow faster. When you want to close the drain, just twist (first uses it's very hard, but it softens in little time and gets the ideal pressure). I tested it keeping my sink full OVERNIGHT and it didn't drain (this is better than the stainless steel stopper that came with the disposer). When you want to drain, just twist the top and "adiós" water. One additional feature that the manufacturer doesn't mention but I discovered it quickly is the visible colored parts when the disposal genie is placed in the drain (the curved fins and the center "button") actually help creating a flat surface that is a continuation of the sink bottom, so now I no longer have that annoying situation with glasses "falling" in the drain, tilting and breaking.I'm entirely in love with this product.Oh, and the spatula on the bottom is smooth as a squeegee, not too flexible but not too hard... just perfectly ballanced. It's great to "wipe" food leftovers from plates and it also hels drying the sink borders, as it acts exactly like a tiny squeegee that fits in small gaps.it also helps muffling the disposer noise. It may look silly, but it's a very clever invention that REALLY helps a lot.
