Finally found my trimmer. Very precise. The only mistake was to not be the model with the laser light. But I still love it and cutes very thin also.

This paper cutter is like the good solid "school" type paper cutters but way better and made of steel. lol. The magnetic gauge thing defiantly could be useful if you needed to cut something exactly the same over and over. For me i need to rotate the paper and cut so this magnetic guard is useless for me. It could be useful though. This tool made a monthly job of cutting papers go from 8 hours to literally less than 2 hours. This makes the job so much easier. It takes a bit to get used to how to line this up properly but like anything once you get the hang of it it works great. I used to have to use a junky paper cutter that would only cut 5 pieces of paper at a time, now with this I can comfortably cut 25 pieces of paper at a time. Increasing my productivity 5 fold for a few hundred bucks. I also love that this is a 'self sharpening" blade as other paper cutters do not have this and in the end you will end up paying alot for replacement blades. self sharping = saves you money in the long run. This is built to last solid design. I have cut up to 40 pieces of paper on this unit even though its supposed to "only" do 35.This is quality , its solid and feels like it will last forever. The guard works i guess , still getting "used to" cutting with it but ill get better just need more practice. The paper it cuts has sharp clean lines.The clamp takes a bit to get used to as well but the trcik is to raise the handle as high as it can go.Overall super happy.If i ever need a higher number paper cutter I would buy this brand agian. QUALITY, steel, solid construction. Highly recommend.

If you areliokinf for a seeiuos papwr cutter for a moderate publishing, this is the one. Mist cutters only cut 10 sheets. This is a heavy duty cutter while the size is not too big. Veey solid build.

This trimmer cuts through paper like it is butter. Besides stacks of paper it also lets you cut effortlessly through thicker matboard etc. The blade protector ensures that cutting yourself is near impossible and the mechanism also ensures that a stack of paper is firmly held in place and does not shift during the cutting process. Worth every penny.

Absolutely amazing Cutter! I knew I was set on this brand when I found it. Better than any others out there. Lightweight, but extremely solid! the little rubber feet are even amazing, will not slide on table at all. Has heavy, very sharp, thick cutting blade, with a vertical mounted mating bar. most other cutters this bar is horizontal, less contact that way... Don't worry about the guard, it's awesome as well. I was worried about it obstructing view of cutting point, but it works perfectly and swivels out of the way for clear view. the pressure hold down works great, even a single sheet of newspaper wont slide … its also automatic, clamping as you slice down. I've cut 45 page booklet with ease, and will be using this trimmer exclusively for cutting wood veneer.

This is a preliminary review, just got it. Seems well-built and well designed. Packaging was great, except… there was no tape on the switch to keep it from turning on in transit. My unit arrived with the switch on and the batteries drained. When I put in fresh batteries the laser works fine, though I'm worried that it was on long enough to drain the batteries, and may not last all that long as a result. I got this as I make 3x5 pocket reference cards for my students and residents (I teach at a medical school) and my existing heavy-duty stack cutter (QCM-1200E), which cuts large stacks (1-3/4" = 43 mm) quite well, just isn't that accurate. I have an X-Acto laser paper cutter that will only cut one card at a time, but the laser made this work very accurately, much better than just trying to cut things with my heavy-duty stack cutter. But limited in how much you can cut at a time: 3/16" (5 mm). Also, the manual (which has pictures but no text) shows adjusting the laser with a screwdriver. Can't do that, both of the screws require metric Allen wrenches, 3 mm for the large screw that adjusts the angle) and 2 mm for the small screw that adjusts the side-to-side position. Adjusting the laser (which I had to do) is very finicky. You loosen the big screw and then turn the laser housing back and forth by hand and then tighten the screw, which then knocks it out of alignment, so then you loosen the screw, adjust, tighten the screw almost all the way, then adjust again… Would be so much easier by slowly adjusting a screw, or a knob as on the X-Acto. Also, it turns out that when you have the handle all the way up, the plastic guard rotates to where it interferes with the laser enough that the laser beam only extends about 2/3 of the way out the cutting edge. I was happy to leave the plastic safety guard in place, though I don't have one on my larger stack cutter (it locks in the up position and then you have to unlock it to bring it down), until I realized it interfered with the laser, which is why I got this particular stack cutter. I used my split ring pliers to remove the safety guard, and now the laser extends all the way along the cutting edge. I will update after I've used it for a while.

This is an excellent guillotine cutter that gives precise and clean cuts. You can cut about five sheets of heavyweight paper/cardstock against the grain without getting ragged edge so it's not suitable for quickly cutting a ton paper at once, but precision is what I'm after so this doesn't bother me. My only complaint because the back guide slides over the measurement guides printed on the machine I have concerns the paint will eventually wear away. I'm thinking about spraying it with a clear acrylic coat or putting down tape. Otherwise, I'm incredibly happy with this machine.

After struggling with the poor precision of other paper cutters, I'm in heaven with this one. A really, really smart design - one that cuts exact measurements, and securely holds the paper down flat while cutting. Like someone said, suffer once with the price, or suffer daily with the problems of a cheaper model. This one is just smart. And very well made. You get what you pay for.

We use this to cut vinyl samples usually with a foam or a knit backing. Over time the cutting arm has become loose, so that it will fall down without notice. We tighten it and it's fine for awhile, but then it loosens up again. So far there have been no accidents, but we try to warn people before using the cutter. The guide marks are set up for European paper sizing. I've put graph paper with English sizing to help guide the cutting. Also there is both an English and Metric ruler at the top, but when you put something over it it's confusing to know what number you are on. I've also added a measure guide to the top of the guide bar to make lining things up a bit easier. Please see photo.

Great strong and precise cutter. High build quality. Handy pull out drawer for precise "drop" dimensions of a cut. The first cutter I received had a slight cosmetic problem and I brought this up to Dahle folks in New England. They were extremely responsive and sent me a new cutter. I returned the initial at their expense. Dahle quality backed by the Dahle reputation.
