I have an old 15" Cecilio CVA-600 student viola with a thick body that always sounded dull and soft, especially on the C string, where I had to apply more pressure to get any projection. Now, it is by far the loudest and best sounding string on this viola, and maybe on the other three violas that I own. The middle two strings are Obligatos, and the A string is also a Kaplan Forza. While it is playable, they are not exactly a perfect match, so I may have to also get the G and D strings. The Kaplans are much nicer than the Zyex and Hellicore strings, and well worth almost twice the price.

This is without a doubt the best C-string I have ever used on my 5-string Violin. I have tried them all from the Helicore Violin C string to the short scale Spirocore C and every synthetic C string on the market and this is the one.

I am using 16-16.5 viola, the medium scale c string is way too short

Die Kaplan Saiten sind auffallend dünn, auch die tiefen Saiten. Dadurch ist die Ansprache leicht und superschnell, was gerade bei der C-Saite eine große Erleichterung bringen kann. Der Klang ist sehr kraftvoll, in keinster Weise schrill, sondern eher dunkel. Gerade die Tiefe wird besser ausgeleuchtet, das wirkt sich auf das ganze Instrument aus, das größer, klarer, aufrechter klingt. Auch die A-Saite ist brillant, aber deutlich dunkler als Larsen. In den mittleren Lagen könnte mehr Fülle und Komplexität gewünscht sein, das hängt natürlich vom Insturment und von den Klangvorstellungen ab. Ich konnte hier das ganze Set im Angebot sehr günstig kaufen und freue mich über den Erwerb. Wer den hohen Preis für das ganze Set scheut, der könnte mal einen Versuch mit der C-Saite wagen.

This is not a set. This is only string A- no string C, G, & D. Thinking that It was just a mistake I reported to Amazon and they promptly sent another "set" which turned out to be just another A string.

I got the A string but this is not a set of strings. It's a string. It sounds wonderful but it would be nice if this problem was fixed and they could sell the C, G, and D strings as well.
