The improvement in tone I get from these was immense. I'm sure that there is some magic material or wood out there that sounds even better than these, but just going from plastic to wood was huge. I'd wager that any acoustic with plastic pins would enjoy similar results.

Let me start by saying that I don't hate these. They fit, they replaced my damaged original pins from my 1996 Alvarez Regent, and they don't look terrible. That being said, they are plastic. It says they are plastic in the very fine print and I normally wouldn't have a problem with them being plastic. I did want to hear if there was a notable change in tone and I thought that was what I was paying for. Also, since they are plastic you would think they would all match and not have such a striking difference in color but the ones I received are all mis-matched. If I spent less than $10 I wouldn't care but for $20+ I expect them to match and be made of the material advertised. You can literally get plastic pins in sets of 24+ for less than $10 and they definitely all match. I'm disappointed. Picture included.

Wood is an imperfect medium and Planet Waves stand behind their products. However, I installed three before discovering the defect. Since I had sanded half the pins to fit already, there was no exchanging these.Easy and quick fix, since I didn't want to wait days to change stings.Anything is better than the factory plastic pins, but Boxwood has the resonance I prefer and the natural grain of the light wood pins over a dark wooden saddle is subtle and classy.Second Pic is a sustain hack.Note: This is a Grand Concert fingerstyle guitar. Brass or titanium pins have there place. Ivory, wood, or ebony are my preferences for this piece.

Good quality ebony pins.Guitar sounds better and even looks better. It provided a nice tone and longer sustain. Paired with a bone saddle and PB light gauge strings, it made my Yamaha JR2S sound on a par quite possible better than a Little Martin and a Baby Taylor. I own a Taylor GS Mini and Yamaha F335 so I compared the sound of upgrades JR2S with them. It sounds great!!Note: These bridge pins are wider than stock pins on a Yamaha JR2S so getting the strings to lock onto the bridge was rather time consuming but with a drill and some sandpaper, it made it a whole easier and faster

Purchased these to replace the plastic pins on my Taylor Academy 12e. Some people notice a change in tone and/or sustain. I could not disern any changes on either guitar, but that is fine. It just rubbed me the wrong way seeing plastic pins on my acoustic. It just does not seem right.I also purchsed a set of these several years ago for a Yamaha FG-400. I can say nothing bad about these pins. I believe they are much nicer than any plastic pin.The first two photos are the Academy 12e, the second two are the FG-400.PS. Those of you with a sharp eye for detail may have noticed the string arrangements look funny between the two guitars. No, you are not seeing a transposed image. The Yamaha is right-handed, the Taylor is left-handed. : )

The pins are slightly undersized, so they don’t hold all the strings firmly until tension is put on the string. I’ve found a few other brands throughout the years that are better

Look beautiful on my Taylor Baby because they match the natural finish1 Loved the look so much that I drilled a bigger hole to fit the matching guitar strap button that is included and replace the silver, plastic stock one. Planet Waves includes an extra pin that is also great. These are shorter than the stock plastic ones that came with the Baby that were surprisingly long, so they don't seat down all the way to the bridge on the thicker, low E, A wound strings which is visible due to the design of the pins if you look for it. They do stay put though. This plus upgrading to a bone saddle and nut made my Baby sound like a bigger guitar!

Volltreffer!

These are awesome, extremely sturdy, well-made and well-finished. They also fit my Martin guitars perfectly. As far as sound qualities, that's something that you'll have to experiment with yourself. Many people say they can't detect any kind of change in tone. Others think they can. These should sound about like any other wood pins, dampening the treble slightly and perhaps adding a woodiness overall and maybe a slightly deeper bass.As far as sound, experiment. There is also nothing wrong with plastic pins. They give a nice, neutral tone.As far as quality, these are top-notch, and they fit perfectly in a Martin. As far as appearance, that's up to each of us, but to me, they look even better than the photos. Beautiful.

What I really needed was the end pin, but I thought that it would be nice to replace the whole set of pins to match. Having read that there are numerous different sizes, shapes, and tapers of guitar bridge pins I was a little intrigued by these saying "direct replacement for most instruments." They weren't even close on my Sigma DM-2 guitar. The bridge pins were only about half the length of the originals, they were significantly too large a diameter, and they were the wrong taper. Also, the slot was too narrow. Additionally, the end pin was substantially smaller in diameter than the original and had no chance of staying in place. I was able to make it work by temporarily by wrapping several layers of paper around the pin, but needless to say I'll be looking for better replacements somewhere else. It would be better if these were displayed with specific size specifications and not identified misleadingly as a somehow universal replacement.
