Tool works effectively. Use an impact wrench to make quick work of installing boot bands. Comes with a nice supply of bands so you don't have to go searching for more when you screw one up. Works in tigh spaces if you don't remove the CV joint completely from the vehicle. Not a necessary tool but nice to have at an economical price. Wish I had this 20 years ago.

I fought to get a boot on my CV axle SO many times with the regular pliers type clamp. I broke like 6 axle boot clamps, and maybe this is a user error... but the problem was completely solved with this style of clamp.Getting in there with an actually adjustable clamp is wonderful and made the whole experience much much better. If you need this you should get it. If you're about to replace your axle boots, just get this instead of the other version.

I've needed one of these for so long. It's impossible to get clamps on CV boots right otherwise. So many times I've had to buy new axles because replacement boots don't stay on.This thing is great. I should have gotten one sooner. You still have to remove the axle to change the boot, but it saves you a ton of money in new axles. This makes clamping those rings totally easy. Get one and save yourself some money, and keep your good OE axles.

After using the product as intended - almost, at least; using the hose clamps to replace some old radiator hose - I ended up using the clamp for a few different things so far. I've had it holding work pieces on the drill press, I've tapped a few bolts held by this clamp, which itself was held in the vice. I foresee it being useful for many applications in the future as long as it holds up, and, thanks to a good build quality, it feels like it will!Using the clamp under the hood was awkward and frustrating a few times for sure. It functions, but the weight and the spinning bolt makes it difficult to grip and get into any position that isn't easily accessible. Far better suited for a benchtop project, imo. I'd still say it's a good value, but I think it's advertised for the wrong primary purpose.

I ordered this for the tool itself. This will work with PEX pipe with the correct size crimp fittings. I needed to make some plumbing changes in a space that was too small for my large PEX crimper. This tool worked great. Yes, it can also be used as intended for CV joint boots (several sizes of the crimp clamps are included.While this is a simple tool, it is a bit crude and does take a little pressure to hold the clamp and the tool together until some pressure can be applied with the bolt that squeezes the two wings together. I used a powered ratchet wrench to do the final tightening in the confined space. On a rubber CV boot, you could easily see the rubber compress…not so much on PEX pipe. I found that squeezing until the clamp was as tight as it would go (the two wings pressed together) was perfect and did not leak.I’m very pleased with this tool and would easily recommend it!
