The head piece was rocking back and forth on the sway bar because the old washers were wore out. No issues after installing the new ones.

I have a different brand hitch that used a split-ring lock washer on the bottom bolt of the hitch head, and when I applied the manufacturer's recommended 260 ft-lbs of torque it just squished that lock washer out and destroyed it. Looking at Curt's hitches, they used the conical washers on both bolts, so I ordered these and retro-fitted my hitch head to this style of washer. From an engineering perspective, these are superior in every way, since the idea is to keep axial tension on the threads. They absorbed the required torque with no damaging distortion and I feel like my hitch is no longer something I have to worry about while I'm towing a 9000 lb travel trailer.
