The O-ring is used to seal the housing canister to the housing cap to prevent leaks. Replace your o-ring every third filter change or when there is damage to prevent leaks.

Lube up your new O ring with Vaseline prior to placing it into the groove of the canister. This keeps it in place and prevents it from being stretched out of shape. O rings worked just fine.

Worked fine for my big blue filter canister. I had to warm the o-ring in warm water to get the wrinkle out due to the way it was twisted in the bag. After warming and using a small amount of sealer it fit and sealed fine.
