The Cuisinart CPT-142P1 does exactly what it promises—it toasts well, has good features, and has held up for two years with no issues. That said, for the price, I was hoping for a bit more in terms of build quality.✔ Toasts Evenly & Has Good Features – The shade control settings work well, and I like the bagel and defrost options.✔ Compact & Clean Design – It looks good on the counter and doesn’t take up too much space. The cord wrap underneath is a nice little detail.✖ Very Plastic Feel – The listing says "plastic," and it definitely feels plastic. I wish they had a slightly more premium option with metal or ceramic.Overall, it’s a solid toaster that works exactly as advertised, but for the price, I just expected it to feel a little nicer. 4 out of 5 stars. Maybe I'm just too picky.

Expensive toasters don’t last any longer than cheaper ones. So don’t waste your money. In my experience, Cuisinart does reasonably good work in both designing and manufacturing their kitchen machines; this one is no different except that it’s plastic, like I said.Don’t put your money in another heavy, expensive, steel contraption to replace the one you just threw out simply because it’s ALWAYS the internal parts that fail, never that outer shell. This one is the smarter choice.

As promised in ad, delivered promptly. Works like a charm with multiple settings. The four slice capacity is really great.

This is a very nice toaster that has wide slots for bagels as well as settings for defrost and reheat and a cancel button. A wide range for toast settings and it is also very attractive.

8 years later. We still use it. All functions still work and we still use all functions on it. Toasting evenness over the years has gone from even throughout to even about 4/5 through with the other 1/5 being close. I really enjoy how I can pull up on the levers to pop out my toast a little more. It still looks nice and cleans up easily.

Purchased to replace an older Cuisinart 4-slice toaster that finally gave up the ghost. The older one was the long version, which worked well, but this one has the capability to toast 4 slices, but with two different settings, something lacking in the older version. Was surprised at the size of the new toaster, as it takes up very little room, at least compared to the older one.So far we're pleased with the toaster and how well it performs. Toast comes our pretty even and is toasted from edge to edge.

Evenly toasts your bread on both sides. I bought one for the cottage and it worked so well, I bought a second one to replace the one at home.

So far I’m pretty pleased. The toaster does what it’s supposed to. It’s tough to find a white toaster so that’s why I first looked at this one. It’s a tad pricey but I’m happy with it

Bought this based on a Wirecutter recommendation of value for money. So far, so good. It will toast a dense slice of sourdough fresh from the fridge in one go, which is what we were looking for. Toasters just don’t last the way they used to, so no high hopes for longevity, but fresh out of the box, it works just fine.

This is a big disappointment but I didn’t even notice this before I had it too long to return it. The openings on top are exactly, if not a hair under, 1.5” wide by 5.25” long. That’s 1 and 1/2” wide by 5 and 1/4” long, for those that don’t do decimal. But you CANNOT get anything thicker than 1” between the wire brackets inside. They do not spread wider. I tried it. Several times. This is very disappointing because it was advertised as 1.5” wide. Thick Texas toast was one of the big reasons I bought it. I would not have bought it if I knew you can’t put anything over an inch thick in it. Even bagel halves are hard to cram into it and they are much firmer than Texas toast so there’s no need to try that. I’ve had a couple bagel halves that weren’t cut exactly in the middle and the thicker side wouldn’t fit into the toaster at all.Start off toasting sandwich bread on a low setting. The two on this one does what the three did on my old toaster. 3 and a half on this toaster burns sandwich bread black so I don’t know why the settings go to 7. Also, be sure to use the cancel button if you need to raise the toast before the timer is done. You might damage it if you try to raise it by the handle like all the toasters I’ve had before. This one takes more force to lock down than others I’ve had and I thought something was wrong with it when it wouldn’t stay down. I pushed down harder out of frustration and it locked. The cancel button pops it right up. I’m used to using it now and I don’t think a thing about it. Read all the instructions before using it because some settings don’t work the way you’d assume it would, like the bagel setting. There was a less expensive toaster that was advertised as 1.5” wide but I went with the Cuisinart brand because I thought it would be exactly as advertised. I was wrong.June 7th 2022. This piece of junk will be replaced in the near future. I only toast on the number one setting now because it takes so long to get that done. The bread comes out almost hot but no browning. False advertising and absolutely the worst toaster I’ve ever seen. We have toast at least once a day, almost every day. We’ve been married 51 years now and this is our third toaster, so that shows you what a piece of junk this is, and it’s not just a lemon, it was advertised as having 1 1/2” wide openings and toasting very quick. Absolutely false.

I have had this product for about a year. The left handle is very hard to get down. It seems to catch on something and I often have to try a couple of times. It’s bad enough that I wish I could return it but my window has closed. The overall quality apart from that is good. My only comment would be that slightly wider slots would be better.
