Canvas arrived torn in the sealed packaging. So disappointed… the delivery was even delayed. Ugh!!! 😩

It came so quickly and completely in tact. I did try to use multiple different types of vinyl on this for a temporary project and it would not adhere (it did state that on the vinyl but thought I would try anyway). I would have kept this but did not need it for anything else. It’s honestly a great, sturdy material though!

I was away and didn’t return until after the return day when I opened this. I can’t use this canvas with a big string paired on to it.

This is a nominally priced pair of 24” x 36” stretched black primed canvases. It’s a fair price for two large cotton canvases that are triple pre-primed and strongly mounted on pine wood with the additional strength of a middle support beam. This isn’t a discounted price by any means but you are definitely getting your money’s worth.Of course, the first thing most people will notice is that these are black, not white, canvases. Many budding artists are reticent to try painting on black because they are so used to having that brilliant white background. But don’t let the blackness scare you off, you can easily make your colors pop against a black canvas and the results can be amazing.With black canvases I have found that it is much easier to depict depth to your paintings. You can make a subject stand out from the depth of the blackness and almost magically make it appear to come forward. For example, painting a glass vase or pitcher on a black background will inherently add a bit more dimension as opposed to painting on white. The blackness just seems to bring your subject a bit more forward.Fuzzing the edges of your subjects on a black background also makes them appear to be sinking into the darkness and create an illusion of fading away or sinking into the distance. You can use a black canvas to make a beautiful or happy subject stand out or to make a horrific or dramatic image seem spookier.I haven’t started using these two large canvases yet because – considering their ample size – I want to be sure to pick a subject worthy of them. I have worked on black canvas (stretched and panels) before and have had excellent results. I teach children’s art classes and the kids really enjoy painting on black, especially around Halloween or any time during the “witchy” season, as they call it. The contrast of paint on a black canvas is surprisingly stunning and you’ll be glad you have given it a go. These Ctosree canvases are as good as any black ones that I have used and I give them a full stamp of approval.I have only used black canvases myself for acrylic or oil painting but these very strong canvases are leak and tear proof and can additionally be used for watercolors, gouache or pouring. Beginners can use black canvases although I would suggest some pre-study and preparation before trying. They are great for intermediate and intriguing for advanced artists.Ctosree offers these stretched blacked canvases in three sizes, 24”x36”, 30”x40”, and 36”x48”. The style I am reviewing has that one extra support beam in the middle but the two large styles have the additional support of a cross beam. So you have strong options from which to choose depending upon your intended subject matter.Once you’ve tried black canvases, you may never go back to workaday white!

These canvases are only suitable for the casual artist. I was thrilled to order them and began planning my painting with the canvases. When the canvases arrived, they were well packaged and wrapped in several layers of plastic. Upon further examination of the canvas, it immediately became apparent that the canvas was thin and flimsy. The canvas I selected was dented in several spots, making it unusable for painting. Also, the center wood framing left a massive double line down the middle of the canvas that no amount of paint could hide. I was frustrated and exceptionally disappointed to have received such poor art materials. While I did not expect a professional-grade canvas, I did expect something I could paint on and proudly show my work. I cannot state how the canvas worked with acrylic paints, my medium of choice since I cannot paint on it. They are of such poor quality that I cannot recommend them.

I choose this seller because of the photo of the canvas. It was black on the back, but in fact it's not :( 4 stars because it's not matching.
