I have had other brands of battery chargers/maintainers. Trying CTEK brand for the first time. Unit is well constructed and have topped up two car batteries so far. Unit is easy to use, I just used the default settings of 12v regular car battery. The unit worked its way through the lights until reaching "fully charged" status. Though more costly than other brands, I like the 5 year warranty. Will see about the longevity of this unit. So far the unit is doing its job.

This battery charger/maintainer works excellently with almost no effort to recharge a weak battery or maintain a battery in cars that aren't driven regularly. This is especially important in colder weather as the charge can drop enough to be unable to start the vehicle. This almost happened to my 2011 BMW 535i Xdrive 95Ah battery after not moving it for 2 weeks mid winter. I got several low charge warnings but thought they would go away once I drove a bit, but trips were far and few between.The charger power cord is hard wired, and the output leads have a fast clip connector at the far end to plug in either the alligator clip ends or 1/4" eyelets for a more permanent connection to make frequent charging easier.Both the power cord and the output leads are 6' long for a total of 12' plus another 18 inches for either the alligator clip or eyelet connectors, so there's plenty of length to position the charger where you want. The clips are spark free and have polarity protection so you don't have to worry about those when making your connection.Plugging the device in starts it in standard vehicle battery mode. Other modes include motorcycle for smaller vehicles, AGM for those batteries, and a reconditioning mode to restore full capacity to batteries that have lost some charge capability.From almost dead, it took about 28 hours to go through all 7 phases of charge. Patience is the way to go here, don't check often, especially if you have to open a door or hood to do so.I found it best to leave it under the hood with it slightly ajar and check every 4 hours or so. Resist the urge to unplug it because you think it's not progressing. It is. Even in cold weather it will get your battery back in great condition with little more than the press of one button. Highly recommended.

Prime Day sale made the value exceptional. Charger is excellent quality, decent instructions, works perfectly. I was previously charging Sprinter van battery with my motorcycle trickle charger, which was okay, but not ideal. This charger made a big difference in charging time and end result was a higher final voltage. Can plug in and forget as it works great as a maintenance charger. I had to add-on the silicon bumper/protector and extension cable for the battery clips - so final cost is higher if you need those options. Only complaint is proprietary plugs which means I can't use the cables from my existing charger. CTek makes a charger with Mercedes-Benz branding - this is the same charger but without the lithium battery capability and M-B branding, so almost half the price (on sale). Highly recommended.

Read the manual, it is very helpful. This unit has multiple cycles, or modes. To restore or charge a battery. Once the type of battery is selected, AEG or regular, then it goes through various cycles of sensing, charging, restoring/reconditioning and then maintaining charge long term for a car battery. There are cable attachment choices, clamps or rings to attach with bolts. Takes many hours but does it's work effectively. Manual gives the time duration of various stages. Charged a battery fully, that was getting an error on our black & decker charger (F02 internal short or something).Size is very compact and a pouch case is included.

A trickle battery charger is a must have for vehicle battery maintenance! Our old unit finally gave out, and we purchased this CTEK Trickle Battery Charger as a replacement. It did not disappoint!- Very easy to use with its slick and simple plug and play setup.- Handy storage bag and helpful product manual.- Durable and solid construction.- Efficient operation. Vivid and easy to see display panel.This unit is a terrific value, too. I highly recommend this product.

Perfect for gentle charging and battery maintenance for vehicles in extended storage. Smart charging with multiple stages and supports AGM batteries (commonly found on German cars, where the battery is in the trunk). Once charging is complete, it keeps a steady eye on when a top-up is required, as vehicle electronics continue to slow draw while in storage. In watch mode (most of the time), it only consumers 0.8 to 1.8 watts. Its truly a set and forget charger. Even after a power outage, it remembers its settings and continues to monitor the battery and only charge when necessary. The BMW OEM version is the exact same as this CTEK model. The extra money for this charger is well worth it to not overcharge your battery.

I own the ctek 10amp and have used it a couple of times and it did what it said on the box, I bought this 5amp as its a lot kinder on these start stop battetys I still use the 10amp on ordinary batterys and five on stop.start battety to maintain them
