Good, robust and is what I needed for the tasks. Marked in 10ths of a foot though, not in inches. A little bit of tricky math is good for the brain though. I will make note of the measurement scale next time.

Picked a "used, like new" one of these for a building project and have not been disappointed. It's simple, sturdy, and just plain works. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but if you're on a budget, this will do the trick. I've not treated it very nicely - it's been tossed unceremoniously in the back of the truck and on the ground and it doesn't seem to be getting full of dirt.Only major con: If you unroll the tape too fast with the reel handle flipped up (so it doesn't smack your hands), the handle can flip back out and bloody your knuckles. So don't jog too fast when measuring. The hinge point ought to be perfectly centered on the reel to avoid outward force when rotating, but it's slightly offset.You might think being marked on a single side is a con, but the blank side makes it easier to determine when the tape is twisted.

I use a long tape for one of my hobbys. I had a long steel roll up tape that was in chrome square disc looking thing and I could never find it. Half the size of this thing but that was the problem I guess. Lost it. This thing is huge and ORANGE. Can't miss it. No brainer at twenty bucks. Has alligator thingy on the end for grabbing on to stuff like wooden boards, etc. First use I found some pipes in the ground that were supposed to be a 75' from a concrete pad. The pipes were covered up with several inches of dirt and leaves and what not. Found them no problem. Already paid for itself as far as I am concerned.

Light weight, inexpensive, and kinks less than any tape measure I’ve used. Also, and the main reason I buy this measure, is because it is a decimal foot measure, not inches. The only measure I’ve found that doesn’t have the confusing 2 sides (ft & decimal ft). This makes it quicker for me to check length and not worry about accidentally noting the ft/in instead of decimal feet; which I use for work.
