As others have said, the wing nut bolts are too short. You have to really torque down the wing nuts to get the bolts to fully seat in the small wood pieces, and even then the bolts are too short to get the wing nut on using the (Needed) washers. It's very hard to turn the screws into the top and bottom frame pieces and there's a risk of stripping the heads on the cheap metal screws. So I recommend rubbing the screw threads on a bar of soap to lube them up for easier insertion. No instructions come with the holder but that's not really a problem. Look at the box or pictures here and it's pretty simple and easy to assemble. Not sure what type wood it is, kinda looks like red oak, but, who knows. No country of origin on box, but it's cheap chinese cardboard so I'd bet china. Instead of using the included bolts I'm going to buy and use these-https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Bamboo-Kitchen-Mounting-Fastenings/dp/B0895Q6MYZ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3D5Z7950BHZ0G&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.f6uOqliGRZXuN8qP-l8GMk6YANglFFwejzyznGxdzbnV6E-rTBPQ-Jjw57gr1UKqVGhxwcXn21FAqeLrIwQ8DtL57-Bp-egijn8tiFWmARvIkZpHO922pp3ZoWCnNBKI80ct9fGJxQO4SWs3JvKIbFpeVZNhFjhhA64nuvigwm_9SqvKqoaEkYkgfS2iUcRms9P11ZHbQTOvAKXCIRWL-RcOmhaPRWD3FmdqgOxG9TSVc5U8Mr6O9kIvep0FO_xwaRoN3At5LpXFfRIQqmHPxVc1iIirbC91xZ5skJyoJz8.EapBC7WU8JpoxsdZrA6OH6IZMZ6f9hnstmKU1j01PNQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=Screw+Bolts+with+Wing+Nut+1+3%2F4&qid=1722778296&sprefix=screw+bolts+with+wing+nut+1+3%2F4%2Caps%2C278&sr=8-4Overall it's not bad. Haven't used it yet (Will do so when I get the new bolts) but it seems okay. We'll see. Don't really think it's worth $40.00 though. $25.00 maybe.

I'm going to have to locate some longer bolts. This item does not assemble as shipped amd it yiu cannot use rhe product like this. I'm not sure why they included bolts that were so short in the package. Unless you can find longer bolts, this is a useless product.

The parts came as described. However, no assembly instructions. The screws to pull it together are very hard to install. The bolts to hold the moveable braces are too short. They don’t come past the wooden strips. I’ll have to make a trip to the hardware store to have any chance of using this product. FYI this also happened with an easel from the same folks.

If you buy this, make sure you have the correct drill bit because the bolts they are sending are TOO SHORT and cannot be used without drilling. They must realize this because they don't send instructions. The product itself is fine enough for two stars but with half the parts being wrong, and the instructions being non-existent, that's a pretty poor perfromance.

As you can see, the screws sent are too short to take the wingnut or washer. These secure the slider to the frame. The slider is supposed to hold the canvas, which is this product’s only job. Priced as high end, is less than low end as doesn’t even work.

Basically this is very useful for carrying your canvases. It can hold fairly big canvases for transport so serves its purpose. Wood quality is good. My main issue is that the screws to hold the wood brackets on to the unit were TOO SHORT. Annoying as I had to go to Lumber store and buy appropriate size 2 screws. Cost 30 cents a piece but this detail created an annoyance that would be easily solved with a little extra care by the manufacturer.

Just one thing ( didn’t know I had to put it together).Using it to transport my oil paintings from home to class and visa versus. Works great!

I'm not sure whether this will stand the test of time since I just got it. But, the picture is exactly what you get and it works just fine.It is easy to put together...just look at the picture and you can see where everything goes. And, as far as screwing in the uprights, you do this the same as with any assembly...you don't tighten down all screws until you've started them all. Then, tighten the first, then the rest in an X pattern. This is nice and light and it seems it will be a great way to carry paintings into and our of the field.Previously, I used a canvas holder I had made for a homemade pochade box, but this is better. The only suggestion I might have is if you're worried about the uprights bowing apart, get a larger washer to hold the canvas mounts. The wood is very similar to the Mabef Field Easel I own.
