Nostalgic remark: When I was a kid, I was the proud owner of a "shoebox" cassette recorder. Back then, having one was a luxury! Here are my comments on this micro cassette recorder:Pros:1) $8.95?! Unless yours came in a "broken" condition, you really can't lose here folks. I have a couple of other much nicer voice recorders, but it's simply convenient to have a spare inexpensive one that I don't need to worry too much about losing or breaking.2) It does the trick. It records, plays, etc., and it carries the regular features of this type of recorder. There's just some feedback on the playback, especially if the volume is too high.3) Mechanically, it works just fine. Cheap parts went into this unit obviously to make it an affordable one. But, the switches and buttons are durable and easy to use.3) Surprisingly (notwithstanding the low price) there's a red led built-in to visually let you know if it's on. My more expensive ones don't even have this feature!4) It's compact, and it looks nice.Cons:1) On the recorder I received, I need to -press- the cassette down into the unit in order to load it properly... Otherwise, I'm unable to close the "door".2) If you're looking for higher quality recordings, don't buy this. If you just need something to take notes on to, or to record lectures or conversations, I do feel this is suitable. As I noted earlier, you'll probably have some undesired feedback.I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any questions. I'm good about responding within 1 or 2 days. Happy Shopping !! :)

I'm sorry, I give this product NO stars! As a previous reveiwer on this site has said, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT. This new cassette player did not work at all from the moment I unpacked it. I put in a new micro cassette tape, and the cassette had a hard time running. It was the right tape (and I tried more than one cassette to make sure it was the player at fault,) but it did not roll consistently. And when it DID manage to roll and record my voice, the unwanted noises of the recorder itself were a constant interference while the voice sound quality itself was poor. Making matters worse, there was a clicking noise during the rolling of the cassette! A very poory manufactured product.

I really am glad I nabbed this (and was a little concerned since it was much more affordable than others), but I did want to state I've only used it for the purpose I needed it (playing tapes), so I can't speak to it's other capabilities like recording. When my mother passed away almost 25 years ago, she left me two mini cassette tapes. I hadn't played them in just as long, and was worried that their being so old, they wouldn't come across well enough or something. I was really impressed with this little guy played them just fine and her voice flooded through. It really meant a lot to me (and judging by some other comments here, I'm not the only one being gifted with the voices of lost loved ones thanks to this product, which is nice). It plays in two speeds, has a good range of volume, and rewinds pretty quick. Definitely worth the purchase!

I bought this Craig unit to play eight old micro casettes from fifteen years ago. They were from my Radio Shack answering machine. They contained many hours of messages from people from the past. Two of these people (my Grandma and father inlaw) have since died. I was able to play back the tapes and find some messages from them. Family members were shocked to hear thier voices again. I have now converted the tapes to digital using the voice recorder feature on my computer. When I saw the $8.95 price tag I thought maybe It was A scam. Have you seen what these old style micros are going for lately? I gave it a shot and in about a week, there it was. Total w/ shipping: $14.95. Wow couldnt believe it. I put batteries in it and out came voices I hadnt heard in over a decade. Pretty strange feeling. Pros: unreal price and it works pretty darn good Cons: Although it was new and unopened, the manufacture date was June 2009 (5yrs old). I worry if this a is belt driven unit the belts may be dried up and brittle. Its done its job so doesnt really matter though. When you eject a cassette you kinda have to lift on the door a little to help it open. And lastly, If you have a cassette that doesnt turn easily such as with a dirty or damaged one, the player doesnt have much power and will stall. I would surely recommend this unit to a friend looking for an analog player. You just cant do better for the price!

Ordered this and was satisfied for the price. It appeared to be a little cheaply made compared to the Sony that I had years ago. I needed to play some old tapes that I had from long ago. The tapes themselves sounded bad. I tried a new tape and it sounded a little better. Don't expect much from this for the price. It does the job but is not outstanding.

Purchased three recorders, one did not work at all, the other speaker made white noiseeven when stopped which ate the batteries, and the third actually worked fairly well but had horrible sound quality...I have purchased the rca recorders for 30 bucks and they seem to last about six months, but have good sound quality and are of slightly higher quality. Probably going digital soon...
