I was In Illinois, when a fellow bow hunter( Noel Feather) gave me the tip on the calls. HE SAID THEY WORKED GOOD ON WHITETAILS. Boy he was dead on. I USE IT IN COMBINATION WITH A BUCK GRUNT. Try it you'l like the results.

I've used this call in the field over the last 10 years, and it never ceases to amaze. It absolutely stops elk in their tracks. Mostly used while scouting, or just prior to a shot to get one to stop. Easy to just hold ready in your mouth in thick timber for that snap shot keeping both hands free.

After a 25 year hiatus from elk hunting, bought this item as it’s a call I carried way back when and is very easy to use. The plastic of the new call is much different and much harder to get the right sound quality out of. Ended up swapping bands into older call and am using that as it was a much better call.

The call allows calming effect for nervous elk. Simple design and easily carried.

Very small, reliable, simple design. Good sounds that you can vary easily with little practice. I got a nice buck at 35 yards while using it as a cover noise while walking through loud crunchy snow.

I like the tone better than the reed calls that can seem a little harsh

I've been using this call since September of 1990. It doesn't freeze up. I can carry it "at the ready" between my front teeth to provide cover sound for a miss-step or a locator call. Great for close range work especially when both hands full. Fits easily in a shirt pocket. I lanyard carry other calls for variety and longer range work but would not be concerned if this was the only call I left camp with. Love it!

I have used this Cow Talk call for many years and stopped plenty of deer. Recently, 2014, I startled a group of cow elk buried in vegetation only 30-40 yds away and tried this call, but it had no effect, I hoped for at least one cow to stop and come around to look around, but no luck. On review, I think its tone range is a little limited. An experienced guide later told us in such a circumstance either an estrus or a cow fighting type call would probably work best. I've seen Wayne Carlton talk about a distressed calf call that can bring in a cow even if startled. My vote is to have both this Cow Talk call together with either a calf call or cow fighting call to use at the time of the startle. This would mimic herd behavior if you have ever heard the mixed noises a cow/calf herd makes. The estrus call might work too I am told. Food for thought, let me know what you think.
