We replaced a downdraft oven and needed a high-performance, attractive, stainless-steel hood vent for custom installation between two windows. We are thrilled with the Cosmo Range Hood. My wife and I installed it all by ourselves, including venting to the outside. It was so easy and looks incredible. The six-inch outside baffled vent opens fully with the fan on the lowest setting, even though it is very quiet. We've spent 10 times this much on professional vents in the past, which cannot outperform this Cosmos. We will certainly look at Cosmos for any new appliances in the future.

The Cosmo 63175 30 in. Wall Mount Range Hood is a great product, and it looks sharp when properly assembled and mounted. The brushed stainless steel finish looks very smart, especially when mounted on backsplash tiles. The suction power is very impressive, the noise level reasonable at the highest setting, but definitely too noisy for the lowest setting. To mount it, I replaced an existing 24" cabinet with an over-the-range microwave oven. When I removed the oven, I replaced the cut tiles and extended the backsplash all the way to the ceiling. You need a flush surface to mount the hood, as the chimney fascia will not line up with the range unit unless you have all tiles to the ceiling or no tiles at all. They don't tell you that in the instructions.Be also mindful when handling the chimney fascia, as it has sharp edges and it is easy to nick or cut yourself with it.Two things that could easily improve the assembly experience is to provide longer screws with more serious anchors than the 1 1/4" provided. The provided ones can suffice if you drill directly into drywall, but if you also have to go through 5/16" of backsplash tiles, they just don't reach quite deep enough to provide a secure anchor point for the brackets. The other major annoyment is the blue protective film. You should definitely remove it before mounting the unit, but even then, there are spots that are an absolute pain to peel off, such as the light assembly and the grilles. To completely remove the film from those parts I had to unscrew the light assembly and remove the LED light fixtures from their sockets. For the grille, there is no chance to do a complete film removal because the parts are riveted together. So, you'll have to leave with some tiny blue film sticking out of your gorgeous brushed stainless steel range hood. Finally, the included flex duct is quite short, and rather than attaching it to other ductwork, you are better off tossing it and getting some 6" non-Insulated flexible mylar aluminum ducting from your local home improvement store instead. Then, use duct clamps rather than HVAC duct tape to secure it to the unit.

I just installed this yesterday and I should mention that this is my first time ever installing a rangehood.. For the price, it looks good and moved a fair amount of air. Not sure if its the 760CFM its rated foe, but it moves air.The installation was a pain and the manual was lacking in details. The duct cover/chimney looks nice, but it is just wide enough for the duct and an inch on either side. That means that there is no place to hide the outlet. I see all these pictures posted here and all the installations look clean, I just don't know where everyone hid their electrical wiring ( I mean it was probably snipped and hardwired behind the wall, but still). I moved an outlet and the plug hits the duct and is visible from outside the chimney. The blue protective film only protects against smudging the metal AND is a pain to take off, especially from the underside facing the actual stove. The film is in the crevices and I have a few bits and pieces I was not able to remove. My chimney blue protective film got ?splashed on? I guess at some point (more than likely by me, but it could have come like that). There were splash droplets on it. I thought no problem, I will just take the film off and my problem will be gone. Boy was I wrong. The chimney kept its splash pattern after I took off the protective film. The film was still whole. Like I said, I probably splashed it at some point; I just think the protective film should actually protect.tl;dr+Moves a good amount of air. On low I couldnt smell paper burning from on top of the stove+looks nice+good price-installation manual lacks some detail. looks straightforward but I found myself getting lost as I followed it. Now that I look at it though it makes sense.-protective film doesnt really protect that much-protective file is a pain to get off-chimney is too narrow to hide an outletPS I would buy this again because of the value. the cons list is long in my attempt to be thorough.
