This vacuum performs well above expectations. We here tend to use things fairly improperly… we are currently using it to vacuum up welding, plasma cutting, grinding, and other metal debris, and it has performed flawlessly. It’s also been used as a stand up vacuum to vacuum the shop floor on a regular basis. It’s a little loud, extremely durable, compact and fits easily for storage, with the attachments.

Has great suction but really isn't for carpet without a motorized brush head. Does a great job on most anything else and runs a long time on a 3 AH battery or bigger. I'll get a couple spare filters to keep a backup when it needs to be washed. The extension tubes and other accessories are a little cheap but workable.

First off I want to tell you not to buy! Here are the reasons why. The vacuum has fantastic suction with a very weak housing. My vacuum broke where the wand attaches to the collector. Four small tiny screws attached to the collector housing which is extremely thin. I used it like a hand vacuum with a small attachment without the extension wands. The product cannot hold up the way I was operating it and it certainly won’t hold up if you try to use it with the extension wands. Currently I have tape wrapped around the vacuum to hold it together while I try to contact the manufacturer for warranty. I used about five days before it failed but but because I had trouble getting the proper batteries from Amazon it past the return date. If you’re the manufacturer please contact me so that we can replace the defective parts and then I’ll correct my negative review. If you don’t see a correction here then I wasn’t contacted!

Very powerful vacuum cleaner. Gets all the pet dander up and has a great filter that is easy to clean. It is somewhat loud but if you want great suction it's going to be on the loud side ! I highly recommend it.

If you already have Makita batteries, this is a great choice. I bought this because I was wary of a vacuum with a proprietary battery that would potentially mean I have to throw the whole thing out if it dies (and also wanted something where cleaning wouldn't be interrupted just because an internal battery needed to be charged). I already had some other Makita tools, so already had the batteries. This vacuum works great for household and home workshop-type tasks. We use it daily for small stuff and basically don't use our Dyson canister vac much anymore! Two things that I learned though:1. This vacuum uses a lot of power, so you need to use the newer 4.0 Ah or 5.0Ah Makita batteries. Bigger the better - the vacuum sucks better and works longer. I started with some older 1.5 Ah Makita batteries and at best, I'd get 5-10 minutes of operation from them. I didn't feel bad about upgrading to a couple new batteries because they worked in all my other tools. The newer Makita batteries also have a battery meter on them to so you have a good idea of how much cleaning time you have left. If you have a couple spare batteries, you can pop a discharged battery in the charger, and keep using the vacuum uninterrupted while that one charges.2. Buy the "DCV501HB Filter Compatible with DEWALT 20V Vacuum Cordless Handheld Vacuum DCV501HB" on Amazon. I bought this because the paper filter that came with the vacuum would get clogged up easily. The filter is washable, but it takes while to dry, so I wanted a second space filter. But what I learned is the foam cover that comes with that set is a game changer - it keeps the big stuff out of the paper filter and the suction stays pretty constant. I don't think I've had to wash the paper filter since we got the foam cover.Overall very happy - like I said, we use it daily.

This is a great vacuum, I was hesitant to buy it . But the reviews that I kept reading were just to positive.I'm very skeptical taking others word for something, but the price was so good , I figured it would be an easy return if it did not live up to its build-up...This little hand-held cordless vacuum is amazing, first things first !! It's powerful, very powerful . We both use it all the time for every type of clean up , from the car to garage floors , household cleaning , spilled sugar on countertop, it handles it all. We had a used Dyson V-8, that I had a Dewalt adapter for it .. it died finally. So I got this to hold over , until i could afford another higher priced vac. But this is now the new permanent cordless vac in this household..I suggestion, get a couple extra of the white filters , they can be wash and dried, keeps you working. And get a couple of the foam filters that slip over the pleated filters , makes them not clog so quickly..get one !!! You will be converted like me .

I bought this for a Christmas present for my wife to vacuum her car. With a smaller 2Ah battery, it is very light and easy to move around. Her first use was to clean the $$ off-white living room rug after we removed the fresh cut white pipe Christmas tree in January. Of course this pretty tree left behind several very long thin needles, and also several small twigs. This mighty little DeWalt 20V vacuum with its 2 straight extensions and the floor / carpet attachment made short work of the tree's droppings. She was impressed. The LED light also helped in one corner than has poor light. She mentioned that it was a tad loud, but that means it would be powerful. She found the filter very easy to remove and clean too. I can use my old DeWalt 20V charger with either 2Ah or 5Ah batteries. In all, this mighty machine gets 5 stars.

So if you already have makita batteries then you can save some money and use this vacuum for simple needs. It's made from pretty cheap plastics, so it's not something a professional would use for clean up at a job site. It's something to use in your shop or garage. It's power is very good and will suck up anything. The collector is a major pain to install and get locked in place. It works great, but just doesn't line up easily and doesn't want to lock in without some effort. So each time you dump it, expect a couple of minutes of getting back on.The extensions and heads work well as far as not leaking pressure, but they don't stay lined up well. Not a big deal, but can be annoying. They are friction fit, but won't fall apart when using. The other criticism is it does run through a battery pretty quickly, but it gets the job done well.On a side note, it would be nice if it had some sort of table/desk, or wall mount holder for the vacuum and the parts. You're gonna have to make something out of wood or toss it all in a box for storage.Again, for the price it offers great performance. Money well spent for about 60 bucks.

Edit: batteries die too quick (used two different brands of batteries. The vacuum takes up too much enegery and drains them quick.) I wish the light on it was optional. Strong but can't last me enough time.I use it to pick up small amounts of drywall dust and mud. Love it. I do not regret buying this product. The product works so well other people at my jobsite are taking notice.
