I got this sander for one specific task: to sand the trim and stops around my window casings where my random orbital sander cannot reach. A bonus will be use for furniture refinishing. I would never use the mouse sander for large areas where a random orbital sander excels. This mouse sander is pretty basic but solid. Heavy. That’s a plus where you are sanding a horizontal surface and it can maintain firm even contact. It’s a negative when you are sanding a vertical surface or overhead. The grip is very broad, even for my largish hand. It is the same width as the battery. But it’s meant more for guiding the sander as it glides around than it is for gripping. It suits my use perfectly.I like the brushless motor. I particularly like the interchangeability with the Dewalt battery platform. I like the internal battery management system that shuts down for low voltage.

Mayoki Cordless Detail Sander Compatible with Dewalt 20v Max Battery, 1.9Amp, Dust Collector, Brushless 12,000 OPM Speed, Compact Soft Palm Grip, 10pcs Sanding Pads, 2.0Ah Charger & Battery KitMayoki Cordless Detail Sander Compatible with Dewalt 20v Max Battery, 1.9Amp, Dust Collector, Brushless 12,000 OPM Speed, Compact Soft Palm Grip, 10pcs Sanding Pads, 2.0Ah Charger & Battery KitOverall, I really love this detail sander. Another reviewer mentioned that the battery didn’t fit well into the sander or the battery charger. My battery slipped on to the charger and the tool without any issues. The battery has a state of charge indicator light on the side. When it is charging the charger has a red light that turns green when fully charged. I also tried my other Dewalt type batteries and they fit the tool and the charger as well. I did experience the issue about the dust bag not seating on to the sander very well, and it is difficult to get it on there. I normally don’t use those bags and this one is quite small so it might fill up quickly. The included sanding pads fit on the tool well, and hold really well. The sander works great and I like the way the handle is set up. I have a 5 inch, 8 hole orbital sander that I use a lot but it can’t get in to corners and this one will perform that function very well. The orbital sander is corded, so it’s nice to have the cordless tool for those times when power is not available or convenient. Getting the tool, with a 2 AH battery, a charger, and 10 pack of sanding pads is a pretty good deal for $60. I do have other Dewalt batteries, and chargers, and tools so this is a nice addition for me. I think that this is a great product at a great price.

The Mayoki cordless mouse sander itself is well constructed with some attributes I really like. Firstly, it’s hard plastic casing is very much like my DeWalt. This makes me believe this tool is durable and should last through all my upcoming DIY projects fairly well. Additionally, its operations are fairly intuitive in that there is a single power switch. That’s it—no other operational controls. Also simple is the changing of the included 10 hook and loop style sandpaper with grits between 80 and 240. It doesn’t get any easier. The included battery and charger have indicator lights showing their state which is nice. Finally, I like the fact that it works well with my other DeWalt batteries which makes keeping charged spares pretty easy. That said, I do have a small list of design issues I find fairly wonky and annoying. Firstly, the battery’s fit on the charger and on the sander is poor at best. I had a real struggle to get the battery seated properly on the charger. It must be aligned perfectly straight and then a good amount of force and some wiggling to get it to actual seat in the charger. That said, it charges fine as long as it’s seated. The same is true of installing the battery on the sander. I was thinking the sander was defective until I monkeyed around with the battery seating and got it installed fully. The sander worked fine after that. Similarly, the dust collection bag doesn’t exactly attach to the sander. It is simply supposed to slip over the exhaust port but the bag doesn’t go down far enough no matter how much you push or twist. It usually falls off after the first few seconds of sanding making it useless as well as irritating. I also don’t particularly like how loud this sander is. It is considerably noisier than my similar sized DeWalt. Also, the awkward positioning of the power button on the front of the sander and the location of the battery mount under the grip, which is ergonomically tiring, are bothersome design issue to me.I experimented with the sander using various grit papers on an old piece of floor molding. Overall, it worked fairly well. It did bog down some, even with the slightest hand pressure, which was somewhat surprising to me, but it did finish the job with good results. The dust tube worked OK when it actually stayed on the sander but I had to stop several times to wrestle it back on over the 10 minutes or so of sanding. Irritating to say the least. Paper changes were quick and effortless which makes up some for some of the other design shortcomings. One final curiosity to me is the AMAZON listing has the maker of this sander as MAYOKI though the sander, battery, and charger are all labeled with the company MELLIF. It’s not a big deal but leaves a question in my mind of why?All in all, this is an adequate detail sander for my small DIY projects. I plan to primarily use this sander for detail work in tight spaces and it should fill all those needs without issue. Despite some design issues, I’m overall good with this sander’s quality and function.
