Softer wood with good texture for a good grip that’s not too aggressive. Seats firmly with a tight grip but will slide easily in your palm if adjusting grip. With the 1911s grip safety I think this is key. Gold hardware is a nice touch and has a good contrast with the woods finish. I lightly sanded the front of the grips and the bottom edge to soften corners, personal preference not at all necessary. The wood has a consistent color where I sanded. Which to me suggest these won’t discolor overtime from natural wear rubbing out a thin stain applied to the wood as happens on some so that’s a huge plus!

Bought for my father, and I liked how it had etched on it U.S. which to me is a good fit for a 1911. Especially for him. He is fond of them. Quality is good and went on no problem. He chose to use original hardware tho. But that’s personal preference. Texture felt great as well. And as easy to install as a flip of the wrist. Made it look good!
