Overall the tires perform well and are durable, also relatively easy to take off and put back on if you do get a flat

I've tried a lot of different brands of road tires. I've been serious road rider for over 30 years. I ride almost every single day on my road bikes. But out of all the road tires I've purchased, I keep coming back to Conti Gatoskins. These are some of the best road tires that resists punctures and maximum mileage between changes. It takes bit of getting used to as it rides slightly harder than some other brands such as Vittoria which costs more. But with the right combination of saddle and frame/geometry that kind of stuff, these Continental Gatorskins is hard to beat. I ride on titanium Litespeed, carbon fork, with Brooks Swift leather saddles. Match made in heaven.

I’ve put about 600-700 miles on them so far. The back tire tread broke down first. Then I got a tack in it so I put it on the front. They are hard to get on but are holding up better than the other brands out there. I had Michelin tires and they lasted 20 miles before blowing out the side. Bontrager lasted about 200 before falling apart. So far these tires don’t seem to be slowing me down and are taking the abuse.

This is my 2nd pair. I cycle a lot and these have done very well for me. They are a little heavy but the trade off is a good heavy duty wear layer that rolls well. I even use this tire on my trainer and go back and forth between riding on the streets and on the trainer when the weather gets bad.

Great training tire. Great quality and value. I always choose Gator Skins for my road bikes. I have never had a puncture in a Gator Skin.

Recently replaced a set of Michelin road tires with 3,300 miles on them (and still looking good) with these Continentals. I noticed even with an additional 10psi the tires rode smooth and stable. They felt great on turns and rough spots. With only 1,000 miles on them, they still look new. I mounted them by hand using no additional tools after some reviews said they were tough to mount. I’m sure these will go the distance. I will buy these again when they finally wear out.

This is the 3rd set of Conti GatorSkin tires I'm running on my road bike. All three sets have been amazing. They are extremely puncture resistant and I have literally not flatted on any of the three sets I've bought and used. They also last a very long time... about double the life of what I was getting out of the Michelin Pro4 tires I've tried. They do not feel overly heavy and handle extremely well in the dry and wet.I've tried these in 700x23, 700x25 and now I'm using a 700x28 size. The added width is really great. It puts more contact patch on the road and also allows me to run slightly lower pressures so the ride quality is noticeably more comfortable. I highly recommend thse tires for everyday use and training. I'm sure you can find lighter weight tires if you are competing, but in day to day riding, the puncture resistance is much more important IMO.

I've recently switched from Continental Grand Prix 5000 to Gatorskins on my Trek Madone. The 25c vs 23c tires only weigh 28 gms more per tire. Per tire weight of a 25C comes in at 240 gms. The weight sacrifice for the "road insurance" you get from the dura skin sidewall is well worth it. I also wasn't a big fan of the black chili in the GP 5000. I suffered many small cuts and they developed flat spots in the center tread area early in their lifespan (see 1st picture). The tread compound and rubber thickness on the Gatorskins is plenty sticky enough and should get comparable or better mileage. Expect 4K miles based on my real world experience. The sidwalls on the new Gatorskins are also covered in a minimal amount of rubber vs the old caramel color (pictures 2 and 3). There is NO discerning difference in “suppleness” or “road feel” between either the 5000’s or Gatorskins. I've had a few pine cone/rock experiences on the sidewalls, and the 5000's failed before I could wear them out. But not the Gatorskins. The mounted width on my Mavic Kysrium wheels was spot on at 25 mm for the 25 C. For a 165 lb high-end rider as myself, I run 80 psi front and 90 psi rear. The recommendation by Continental is 90 – 120 psi. Lower pressures mean fewer flats and a far better ride. I'm sold as this is my new tire of choice.
