These things are tough. I used to get flats regularly because the streets where I live always seem to have a lot of sharp debris (and apparently my last tires where either cursed or made out of magnets that attract only the sharpest of objects). Since getting these tires I’ve only had two flats after about six months, both cases were not the tires fault (one pinch flat and one screw almost as long as the entire depth of the tire!).

My OEM tires were beginning to show enough wear and tear that I decided to upgrade with a focus more on road and light gravel. Since upgrading I have increased my average speed by up to 4mph - the downside is that loose gravel is a lot more challenging. The gravel road I usually ride has seen little rain for the past few weeks and I'm having to put a lot more effort in at a much lower gear to keep traction. So far 2 months in and about 400 miles all good from a wear perspective. If you are looking for a good mixed use (hard packed gravel) tire I would recommend.

I have used the Continental Gatorskins for years and have found them to be very good quality and durable. I average about 6000 miles per year and my back tire has gotten about 4000 miles before it needs to be replaced. I would say good value for the money but the price is definitely starting to creep up.

More durable than others I've ridden. I ride a road bike for distance and conditioning so I can't speak to how applicable it would be for a racer. I've had another set on a different road bike and they have been great for several thousand miles.

This my second set of gators. The first lasted more than 5 years! I did have one puncture, but it was a tiny piece of gravel shaped just like an arrowhead. I regularly ride street and gravel trails. The tires are easy to install if you shape the inner ring first.

This is my second set of Continental Gator Skin Tires, My first set was 26"X1" for my Quintana Roo, so far I have more than 4,000 miles on it and never have a flat tire since the day I installed it in Feb 2021.

Update w picture after 3.000 miles without a single flat. I’ve just installed a new set of gator skins on my road bike as my old pair of tires were simply worn out. Still without going flat.Absolutely without comparison the best available tire for puncture resistance. Now at 1000 miles puncture free. Will update this once I get a flat!I find it funny how people are upgrading all kind of stuff on their bikes, but often racing on very used/old tires. Best value for money investment on a bike is a good floor pump to keep the right psi and some good tires. This is the only thing that’s keeping you in contact with the road!!since upgrading to gatorskins I’ve set PRs on all my downhills in the area I live..

I cant give them 5 stars. I wanted to wait and see how long they would go before I got a flat write my review-the time has come. The roads I ride are filled with glass. I commute to class and deliver subs on my bike downtown, so all of my riding is on these glass filled streets. It is a college town and there are literally broken beer and liquor bottles everywhere. (Beer bottles usually wont do it, its the broken fifths you really have to watch out for). With all that said, these tires only made it about 400 miles before I got a flat.I should have "cleaned" the tires after every ride, and just made sure there was nothing sticking to the tire or working its way into the rubber. The piece of glass that I pulled out was a decent size and probably took a while to get so deep. I may have unrealistic expectations as to puncture resistance, but the stock 35c commuting Bontrager's that came with the Trek didn't start getting flats until they were a year old, no matter how much glass I rode over. The tire is much faster than the commuters I was ridding, but I would not necessarily agree with everyone saying this is the best commuting tier. Unless your commute is 15+ miles I would advise going for something a little bit more substantial.
