When searching for this cabinet, two options come up. Both options show the identical cabinet, but the less expensive one (approx. $400 less) comes unassembled. It takes about 3-4 hours to put together.Also the lock mechanisms are pre-installed and on this cabinet one of the locks didn't work as designed. The part that holds the cabinet shut had a metal latch piece that was too short. We had to purchase a separate lock mechanism to make the door secure. The item is too big to return. This seems to be a quality control issue as it would have been very obvious if the cabinet doors had been tested out prior to shipping.Updated review March 2023:We put the 2nd cabinet together. A different person assembled our second cabinet and the assembly time also took 4+ hours. The reason is the lack of pre-drilled holes in the base that receives the casters. The back bracing boards had pre-drilled holes in the wrong places. We had to drill additional holes. It took time to figure this out. If holes had been drilled in the proper places this would have reduced some of the assembly time. Our recommendation is to either purchase the item assembled (and pay more, but have less frustration) or choose a different product. The locking latch on the left side door was also an issue for this cabinet. It could be due to the fact that the hinges were already attached to the sides of the cabinet and should be positioned approximately a 1/4 higher. We do like the color and smoothness of the wood, and our teachers are happy to have additional storage - just wish it wasn't so frustrating to assemble.
