I use these to store various wildlife feed such as sunflower seeds, sunflower kernels, safflower seeds, millet and cracked corn. They seal out pests, stack well and open/close with ease.I also use them to store dried goods in the pantry. So far I've found no issues with them. Hopefully others will experience the same results!

I purchased 3 of these Consolidated Plastics 6 gallon buckets with gamma lids and found one rather significant issue. The listing indicates that these buckets are air tight. I purchased these to use them as fermenters, and I can say that the buckets with the gamma lids are not air tight when I received them. I contacted the vendor and they were extremely nice to work with. They sent me new gaskets for the lids. While the new gaskets worked a bit better, I still could not get an air tight seal as indicated in the listing. Since I really liked the buckets and lids, I spent some time on a remedy, which I share here. If you want these to be air tight (say, for a fermenter), buy a high-quality, food-grade silicone grease. Remove the lid gasket from the lid, and apply a thin coat of grease on the gasket; make sure that the gasket is fully coated so that there are no snags when you pull the gasket through your fingers. Replace the gasket on the lid. Since your fingers will have grease on them, Wipe the screw threads of the lid with your fingers, coating the threads evenly. Once you do this, you can then screw the lid down and get an air tight seal. I did take one star off, since the buckets, as received by myself, did not seal air tight without my use of the food-grade grease. Other than, that, these are excellent buckets, with excellent handles and structure.
