Once upon a time I thought I might want one of these, essential to the performance of orchestral music..what is a conductor without a baton. And this example is pretty good looking and sturdy with a nice feel in the hand. The fiberglass shaft coupled with the wood handle is quite substantial, not a toy. Many years ago, I saw something that a guess lit the "spark" of my desire - it was a record album of classical music that actually included a small baton so the Hi-Fi enthusiast could play "conductor" as the recording played. Maybe that was kinda goofy, but I don't care. I finally have my very own baton... I will begin to play conductor forthwith.

I did study conducting and have a degree in it, so when I ordered this, I was skeptical about the baton. The day it arrived, I measured it against my arm, as well as tested the balance point, and it was a perfect fit. I'm the kind of conductor who likes to hold the handle of the baton deep into my palm, which puts my fingers further up the stick, and the balance point happened to be right where my fingers meet the stick. The length of the baton was also the perfect length to fit my arm! This baton fits me even better than some of my more expensive batons, and I can't wait to use it the next time I have an opportunity to!For those of you conductors reading this, I am 5'11", and my forearm length from the "inner elbow" to the middle of my palm when my arm is at 90° is around 13" last time I measured.
