Every year I need to clean my HVAC coil in my furnace because of the " Dirty Socks" phenomenon. I usually use the Home Depot sprays that are geared to the outside coils, but have also worked for the furnace coils in the past. I tried the Dirty Socks product this year since it was advertised for the "Dirty Socks" problem, and I regret it. The product left a chemical smell that is taking a secondary flushing with water on the coils and many AC cycles to reduce. I can not recommend this product.

I'm a hvac service tech. I've used this product for years. It's great at killing the things that cause the nasty smells on evaporator coils and honestly I've always liked the smell it puts off.

We had brand new mini splits installed last year and have had that disgusting dirty sock smell ever since. The installing company came out several times and "fully" cleaned the units, but the smell just continued to get worse. We used the bio fresh brand, simple green, water, and the evap coil cleaner and nothing worked. In desperation, I decided to use this and my husband removed the covers so that we could fully spray the coils. Like others said, it definitely has a strong smell. One can cleaned all 7 units in our house and we let the foam dry for 6-12 hours (typically overnight) and then ran it on high fan for another 6-8 hours, then put it on dry mode. Smell is gone. It is starting to come back in some of the units that have this issue more than the others, so I'm going to pick this up again so that we can re-treat them because we were probably a little too conservative the first time around. Incredibly relieved that we found something that is actually effective.

Bought a used window air conditioner that was fairly dirty. Took the whole thing apart, cleaned it out with dish soap and water. The unit was clean, but it still had a STRONG mildew odor. Couldn't get the smell out at all, bought the dirty sox spray as a last resort option and used it on the inside of the machine (you'll wanna take the covers off your unit to coat the whole coil and any foam insulation with it). The smell is VERY strong till it evaporates. The chemical scent stuck around for day or 2, but it eventually went away completly. Now my AC unit smells like absolutely nothing 10/10 would use again. Works very well for oders that won't go away.Note-i did use the entire can on my window unit so that's probably why it smelled so strong. But it works great!

This stuff works really well to knock out the dreaded "dirty sock syndrome" that plagues ductless/mini-split AC heads and the price is reasonable. But the smell is STRONG. I would suggest opening all the windows in the room, have a fan in at least one window drawing fresh air in, run the AC head in fan mode for HOURS and STAY OUT of the room for as long as possible (pets too). Look, the strong smell is probably what helps it kill the dirty sock smell so well, but you definitely do not want to be in the room for quite a while after it is applied. It also sprays out of the can with a very strong stream, so do yourself a favor and move or cover EVERYTHING you possibly can including the ceiling and the wall around the AC head (or better yet get one of those mini-split AC head cleaning covers with the built in drain tubes - I definitely will next time). Also wear gloves and eye protection, and even a mask.If you prep and work carefully and air the room out thoroughly afterwards, this stuff really works well - much better and longer than regular coil cleaners. I will use it again if the dirty sock smell comes back (please, don't let it come back!) and would recommend it to anyone else who can't get rid of it with regular coil cleaners.

Great product except, 1 of the 2 cans came with a defective spray nozzle. So what good does it do if you are unable to use it? Luckiñy we had bought 2 cans. Buyer beware, there are no returns from this seller.

I had high hopes for this product, and it did work for a few days. The effects are not residual, and the DSS came back after about a week. I cleaned the A-coil, replaced my (4) UV bulbs and cleaned the cells on my electrostatic air cleaner, to give the product a good chance to work. It does have a pleasant smell, however. Expensive for a weekly treatment.

We have a terrible problem with Dirty Sock Syndrome. Our AC folks come out and clean the system twice a year but for the last year during the heating season, we have had a horrible smell that happens when our system goes into defrost. I ordered this so that my husband could spray the evaporator coil to give us some temporary relief from the smell during the holidays. It definitely helped for about a month and now the odor is coming through again.I would recommend this in between professional cleanings, but be sure to ventilate your house because it is an extremely strong smelling product that permeates the house. We had to open the windows and crack the door so as not to be overwhelmed by the smell. It is not an unpleasant smell but a very strong one. It takes a couple of hours for the smell to disperse. So far, this is the only product that has worked for us other than the professional cleaning. Our AC contractor advised that we may need to replace our evaporator coil in the attic at some point.
