Bought this for my son to get him into hunting. Took it to the local archery store to get it set up. They said the bow seems good and is a copy of a Maverick. But in general a good bow. The problem is all of the accessories are cheap. The sight and arrow rest both come with normal screws for tightening them down. And strip out if the plastic. The arrows it comes with suck. Still for $100 it’s a good deal. Just know you will need to buy some other parts with it

AKCHOER Compound Bow and Arrow Kit Youth BowThis bow is a well equipped small version of an adult bow.It is a parallel limb, double symmetrical cams design.I would recommend this for youth or teens ages 11 and up, including small framed adults of any age.I would not recommend it for younger children, say eight or nine year olds, (or younger) unless you have an especially capable, coordinated, strong, large framed kid that can understand and safely use a compound bow and release aid, and safely shoot arrows. Also, this bow is too small for a long armed, large-framed adult. Draw length and peep sight alignment are difficult with this little bow if you are big. (I ordered this bow for my wife, she is about 5'-4" tall, set to about 28 lbs. draw weight, this bow is a perfect fit for her).Otherwise, this is a great bow, and very versatile. You can adjust draw length and draw weight to fit the archer. When this bow arrived, it was set to about 32 lbs. draw weight (measured with a bow scale). And, a draw length of about 25.5". There is a very nice "let off" at full draw.To test its range, I carefully tightened the limb bolts to increase the draw weight to its maximum, it measured 42 lbs. at 25.5" draw length. If draw length were increased/adjusted to the max. 29", draw weight would increase. But this bow is for my petite wifey, so we left it at the 25.5" setting. And, reduced the draw weight back down to about 28 lbs.DO use a release aid. (not included) There is a D-loop installed. The D-loop can be moved up or down the bowstring for tuning the arrow nocking position.Remember: NEVER dry-fire a compound bow! (or any bow). DO follow safety and maintenance instructions. The arrows that were included are a low-budget type. Unmarked black fiberglass shafts, with pressed/glued-on, non-adjustable field points and nocks. Arrows measure 31".The arrow rest, pin sight, frame mounted quiver, and vibration dampener (all optional) need to be installed. All these accessory parts are "low-end" lower budget parts, but are functional. There is an instruction sheet with brief assembly instructions, as well as draw length and draw weight adjusting instructions. More detailed installation and setup/tuning information for compound bows is available online from various sources. Or, have a professional Archery Shop help with setup. The pin sight even comes with a little light that illuminates the "fiber-optic" pin tips and bubble level, for low-light shooting.Overall, a very nice basic compound bow package for a smaller shooter, at a good price.

I'm a total novice when it comes to compound bows so I was very happy to see that this compound bow came completely assembled (minus a few minor parts that were easy to attach).First impressions, it looks slick, the frame is aluminum, but it's designed to look like it's made from carbon fiber. Nonetheless, it's lightweight, yet very strong, and very capable of performing at a high level.I went ahead and tightened the two screws to increase the draw weight to 45 lbs, the highest draw setting. For me personally, a small framed male about 5'6, the draw was very easy and the release was extremely smooth. You'll want to adjust the sights so they line up with the arrows and each notch indicates a different distance. While I'm loving this and I think this ranks 5 stars, especially when you factor in the price, there are a few notable negatives worth mentioning. For starters, this doesn't come with a release trigger, you'll want and need to buy that separately. The sights are also just plastic and would surely break if dropped. The attachment that holds the spare arrows on to the bow also feels cheap. Finally, the arrows are decent, but nothing worth writing home about. The tips are glued on which makes it impossible to attach broadheads or anything else, in other words, they're only good for practice and their budget level arrows. With that said though, all of the cheap attachments and arrowa can easily be swapped out with better quality parts. The compound bow itself is excellent quality, doesn't feel cheap, and it took me just a few minutes to get this setup and on the range. With broadhead arrows, this compound bow is more than capable of being used to hunt with, assuming you set the draw weight to the max. I'd recommend this for smaller stature people, younger or older individuals, or for anyone just looking for an excellent starter bow that takes no time to get setup. I also appreciate that this came with the Allen set tool to make any adjustments necessary to adjust the bow. All in all, especially for thus price, this is soliditems, I look forward to taking this into the woods and bagging my first buck!

At this price point, I wasn’t expecting much, but when my wife drew this about three times, the string snapped. She actually never even got to fire an arrow, this was just practicing her pull. We did adjust the weight because it was very difficult for her to pull at first, but we adjusted each screw one at a time, the exact same amount. Not sure why this would cause the string to snap. Was annoying to disassemble everything to get it to fit back into the box, and then I had to pay an extra $2 for a return label. Awful! Gave two stars bc it looked cool.
