I bought my daughter a full-size IKEA Hemnes bed. The bed does not require a box spring, because the mattress sits directly on slats. However, being pregnant, and my daughter only being 8, I was needing my husband's help every time I had to change her sheets. It was hard to lift the mattress out of the bed frame to get the fitted sheet around it.Fortunately, this box spring is the perfect solution. We didn't have to assemble it. We have covered it in a fitted sheet so any exposed parts look good. It lifts the mattress out of the bed frame just enough so we can make the bed without too much effort, yet the height of the bed is still low enough that my daughter can climb on and off without needing a step stool.
