I purchased this for my daughter’s 4H project and it went well until she ran out of colored paper in the larger areas. I tried to purchase more paper but it’s not the right shades. It’s cute- just be careful to stretch your supplies.

This kit was my first time quilling, and overall, I found it fairly easy to use. I don't have as much dexterity in my hands as many adults so it was great that this craft was still achievable for me without going crazy or making a complete mess.Pros: easy to learn (done fairly easily by adults and older children/teenagers, younger children would probably have some issues following the pattern, holding the coils, and shaping properly.This kit comes with a wide variety of color strips so you can deviate from the given pattern and create a more individual look if you like.While I used a scissors to cut strips, no actual additional tools or materials are needed.Cons:The glue came out a little more quickly than desired and it was a little difficult getting the dried glue bits off my fingers so they didn't actually stick to the strips. It was pretty time consuming removing glue.Background rubs off pretty easily when trying to remove excess glue, it's not terrible but I had to be careful after the glue was removed in one spot.There were no troubleshooting tips. While still decent looking, my coils came out a little bunchy and was hard to know how to correct for this. A small tweezers may be helpful.Overall: I really liked this kit and was able to get a fairly decent product after reading the directions being a complete beginner.

This is a great gift for beginners or children. It's pretty complete with all the materials. I got this for my granddaughter who was new to quilling. She had figured it out on her own just by seeing some quilled ornaments.The kit contains pretty much whatever you need for your beginning quilling project, plus a nice frame for your finished project.My granddaughter was cutting her own paper strips very precisely. She also did not have proper quilling hook but just used a bamboo skewer. The homemade paper strips were a little thicker than the ones in the kit. The kit strips were very thin and broke easily.She also liked to use glue sticks rather than liquid glue as it held better.However, this is a very good kit for beginners, either kids or the elderly. and the price is right.

I ordered this for a 13y girl who is currently obsessed with her phone. I'm trying to make her take breaks without a fight so I've been keeping my eyes on 'busy' projects. This seemed like an easy beginner kit, and it came with everything she needed to get it done. I ordered the hot air balloon kit because the shapes were all circles and seemed easiest for someone trying it for the first time.The paper colors are nice, and she only ripped 2 strips so far. She is 13 and new at this, so I consider it a win.She acted like she wasn't interested, but once she got started she wanted everyone to leave her alone! She didn't want anyone to mess with it, so I'm assuming that means she was really into it. She hasn't finished yet, but I'm glad because it gives her more busy time.I'd order this again, as a gift or even for myself. It is pretty fun, and relaxing.

It's hard to find some art projects for pre teens, but this is great! Oftentimes art projects are far too easy and babyish for an 11 year old. I wanted something that would be a challenge, new, and different. This quilling set is perfect! I had never heard of quilling before, but the challenge was great for my pre teen. The paper comes precut and the template is easy to follow. She did learn that you should glue the rolled paper from one side to another (right to left, or top to bottom etc) so that you're able to keep the papers tight and close to one another. The glue is ok, but any clear glue will work to keep the paper down. You have to hold the paper rolls down for a few seconds so the glue starts to take hold. This is a great activity and makes a beautiful piece of artwork to hang once completed! The solid white frame makes the project finished!
