This was a gift to my daughter Kristin. I almost didn't give it to her as I enjoyed it so much myself. The author has such a fine feeling for the art of knitting. She has a lot to do with manufacturing the yarn described in the book. I have made several of the mittens in the book and they are smashing! Yes, I'd recommend this book to a knitter or anyone who studies color. It is a winner !

I love this book! It was what I expected and more. The title is perfect - COLOR. Is right - the book is just full of incredible color, beautiful projects, it's one of those books that I want to make almost everything in it. And yes it's a joy just to browse through and take in all the color possibilities, but it is also full of valuable information for making your own projects. I will refer to this book again and again. Love it and highly recommend it.

I bought this as a present for my mum and she loves it. The book is full of amazing colours and the patterns are stunning. If your not fond of fiddly knitting or changing colourways, then this probably isn't the book for you, but if you are, I would definitely recommend it. Kristin clearly understands colours and how they work, so her patterns are taseful and work well. This could easily be a good coffee table book too, as it's just so nice to browse through! Good for using up left over bits of yarn as well!

I love bold colors and am just learning how to incorporate them into knitting. This book gives color and patterns with additional opportunities to design your own work...from simple scarves and mittens to more elaborate wraps and sweaters...it's so intoxicating! Definitely worth the investment for your library! The steek is such a simple technique yet will undoubtedly change my way of looking at projects as I love to use circular needles and work in the round! Hooray for Kristen! Now I need to start working up swatches...the only trouble is to narrow down the playing field and pick the first 2 or 4 or 10 colors to play with!

Once again the talented Kristin Nicholas has smacked the world of colorful knitting squarely on the head with her vibrant and exciting book! Browsing through the pictures makes me lust for my needles, a quiet afternoon and a pile of yarn in "eye candy" colors! Not only does Kristin provide detailed, easy-to-follow patterns to recreate her own yarnful items, she empowers the reader by explaining the process of knit construction so you can be the creator of your own colorful masterpieces! This lovely book looks great on the coffee table, in your bookcase, and, better yet, next to your knitting station! Thanks, Kristin, for putting this yummy book in our hands!

I enjoy having this book and read it a lot. I am making a blanket in the spirit of the 'hearts' blanket, for Project Linus. It is so much fun playing with color using Kristin's wisdom as my guide. I want to make everything in this book. It is such a lovely item to have in my home. When I read it, I feel like I'm taking a private class on color with Kristin at my house. Worth every penny.

I LOVE this book! There are a lot of wonderful designs in it for everything from sweaters (adult and child) to cup warmers, to a tea cozy, to bags/totes to a gorgeous womens' jacket/coat. The colors used by the author are terrific, but the book also features photos of alternate color choices. It gives extensive directions on how to design your own intarsia patterns using graph paper and also on how to embellish those designs with embroidery, etc.

I not only enjoy the color in Kristin's book, but I like the way she writes and knits on a very personal level. As I knit the colorful socks and practice all the great patterns in her book, I feel as if I know her and that she is knitting along with me.As well, this is a great book of instruction for stranded knitting. Although I have not knit with color before, I have no trouble following her charts and patterns. This book is fun, informative and inspirational. If you like to work with color, you will like this book.

I love books on color theory, especially if they also include some patterns that illustrate and support the theory. This book is just my cup of tea. Chapter 1 is called 'The Joy of Color'. The color wheel is illustrated with yarn samples which makes it more accessible to the knitter. There are instructions for how to use the color wheel as well. The second chapter is on Fair Isle Knitting with instructions on how to do two-color knitting and working in the round. It also includes a section on the steek, that magical and scary knitting technique. The author, Kristin Nicholas, does a good job in the section called 'Designing Fair Isle Knits'. She also includes a whole section of different Fair Isle patterns in the back of the book. The patterns in this book are lovely. Think COLOR, COLOR, COLOR. My favorites are the child's zip-up cardigan, the Best Friends Pullover for girls, and the Marrakesh Market Pillows. The layout and photography in the book are beautiful.Whenever I purchase a knitting book I ask myself these three questions:1) Do I want to knit any of these projects?2) Are the instructions clear?3) Is the book a good resource? The answer is 'yes'. However, this is a book primarily for experienced knitters. The patterns will be overwhelming for any beginner or even some intermediate knitters. The book is a good resource for anyone and it is great eye candy for all knitters.
