I ordered with excitement, because I’ve tried them in the past. This shirt was too big and then it had some weird substance on it. As if someone pulled it from the back of their truck. Then it smelled funny. I wanted to like this.

Unfortunately the second I put this on I became extremely itchy all over my chest and back. It is not soft either like other merino wool shirts I've worn. It also contains a lot of cotton which is the last thing you want for moisture wicking. It's also very loose fitting so size down if you want it to hug your skin..which I imagine the trade off is it would make the itchiness worse.

My husband is 6'4" tall 215 lbs. The XL fits him perfectly. The sleeves are long enough. I usually order a XL tall for him, but the XL was out of stock. So, I tried the straight XL. It is super long. I think the XL would have been like a mini dress lol. He loves this thermal. I love that it washes and dries well. No shrinkage drying on medium.

Many of these wool base layers are amazing from Coldpruf. Of the ones I bought in the past ( a little lighter, but warm) the best feature has been they do not shrink, at least in my experience. Honestly I have not tried this particular base layer yet, it is rated as the most extreme, but I anticipate it will stand up as good as all the others I have bought in the past. I buy them for work, and additionally for play.

A wool blend classic fit long john/ base layer top. I ordered my normal xl size, sleeve length is normal but with a long shirt tail that I enjoy. This item was cold washed, line dried prior to initial wear and I found that there was no shrinkage. This item is a lot warmer than the synthetic garments that I usually wear but not as snug fitting. The price point is great.

I like the material blend of this product, being wool and cotton. This will not have much effect on dry time, but it will help the garmet to retain more warmth if it gets wet or damp and will be warmer overall than plain cotton. Also you can wear it a little longer before it starts to smell ;-)I believe the color is advertised as "oatmeal" which was cool for me. I just wish they had a pure white option.Also, the fit is good overall, maybe a teeny bit large and the length is definitely more than usual. I think they do this so you can tuck the shirt deep into your pants and get some more coziness over your hips. This made me feel a little funny walking around if the shirt was not tucked in though. This is not enough of a problem for me to deduct a star, it's a great product overall and I'm happy I found it.

I purchased this as I was in need of a thermal top for hunting. I had always been comfortable with just bottoms, but as of the last few years I've had to double and triple my layers of clothing on my upper half. Well I was pleasantly surprised (not that I should have been after reading the positive reviews, and confirming through ColdPrufs website that Wool Plus was what I wanted for my level of activity) when I wore it the first time and I was so very comfortable to just be sitting outside in the chilly temps. When you are tree stand hunting and sitting still is important, you can get cold easily if you don't layer - even in mild temps. The honest truth is that it made me realize how awful my old thermal bottoms were as now that my top was comfortably warm, my legs now felt cold. Looks like I'll be buying some new bottoms too!
