Advertised as 14.0 mm bore but it measures 13.9 mm; hence it doesn’t fit. How can QA not catch this.

I purchased these to extend my bench press table lift to the front of an extension table. Solidly constructed and fit perfectly on the shaft I was using. Highly recommend!

These are very well made and durable. A small amount of filing the key way to fit was all that was needed. These should last forever.

My original intent was to use this for a new table that I made for my Delta 11-990 drill press. (see enclosed picture). The new table was encroaching on the handle (note handle is normally located next to the drill press post) that I used to lower or raise the drill press table. As a result I couldn't turn the handle completely. The strategy was to relocate the handle to the front of the drill press table so it would be out of the way. I saw several You Tube videos on how to do this. To do that I needed these mesh gears to change the direction of the shaft by 90 degrees. When I tried doing this I encountered what appeared to be a lot of resistance. I concluded that changing the direction by 90 degrees did add a fair amount of resistance. So, in the end I didn't use the mesh gears. In the enclosed picture, I simply extended the shaft further to the right edge of the drill press table and accomplished the same thing. By not changing the direction of the shaft, I was able to turn the shaft pretty easily to lower or raise the table. The gears accommodated a 14 mm shaft, and that was pretty accurate. My shaft was 1/2 inch (obtained from Lowes), so that was a little smaller than the 14 mm internal diameter of the mesh gears. In addition, these mesh gears have a slot for a key, so for my purposes, the set screws that came with the mesh gears (which would press down on the key) were too short (since I had no key and since the set screw had to reach the 1/2" axle. I had to go to a local hardware store to get longer M5 set screws. I'm not going to return these mesh gears but will save them for a possible future project. It would be best to use a 14 mm shaft ( I used the 1/2" shaft from Lowes since it was a lot cheaper and a lot longer). Be aware that these mesh gears are made to accommodate a key. (key does not come with the gears). I used 2 layers of gorilla tape wrapped around the 1/2" shaft to better center the shaft in the handle and also the 14 mm coupler shown in the picture.

Good quality worth the price

As others have mentioned, they could be polished to a better finish, but then the price would reflect that. I think that beveling the outside edge of each gear face will smooth them out considerably. Some won't mind doing this but others might not want to put in the effort. Overall, I'm satisfied with them.

I use these gears to make a drill press upgrade. They work perfect.

I bought these for a project in my wood shop. I expected them to be sintered metal powder but it turns out they're actually machined from stock. The precision of the bore, gear cut and key way are good but the teeth are a bit rough. This gear set would work fine in low speed or intermittent applications such as mine.
