I think it's a little over priced, but I grew up in a less expensive world.. It is of nice quality, well built with ALL METAL parts. I like that it is setup for an electric motor if you wanna got that route. I also think that a DYI GUY like myself could setup an electric motor system without the cost of purchasing an already made bolt on setup

I process my own venison, used it with son to make all of our burger and sausage, worked great for mixing meat, worth the money.

I make jerky. I bought this to mix meat products, not dough. All comments regarding use apply only to meat products. 1) if you plan to mix GROUND meats with this, you are out of luck. The tolerances are not close enough to allow it to consistently push the meat around and fully mix it. A floor mixer or counter mixer such as a Kitchenaid works better. 2) if you plan to mix strips, this works okay, but it will tear up your strips a bit as they catch on the rails. Other mixers, particularly tumblers, work better for strips. 3) cleaning and assembly: those edges are SHARP and you will break skin, even with thicker shop nitriles so either sterilize with spray after or use really thick gloves. FINAL VERDICT: If you're making jerky I'd get something different.

I ordered this because of the reviews saying it was solid built and I didn't order the Hakka brand because the reviews were not so good. Imagine my surprise when this came is and it had a great big "HAKKA" emblem welded to it. I contacted the CMI company and they told me that hakka let them use their name. What a bunch of hooey. I kept it and will try it out as soon as I get a deer but I have my doubts. I can always make sausage with my hands as I have in the past.
