I recently got this point turner for the Lori Holt sew and turn applique method. Prior to this tool, I tried various items like a bamboo skewer, dried out ballpoint pen, dull tip pencil, and the handle of a seam ripper. None of the other items smoothed applique shape edges as effectively.It's still possible with this tool to poke a hole through the fabric if you press too hard, but not as easily as with pointier items. It works great!

I did not know I needed this tool until I purchased it - I had been using my fingers to smooth out curves and a pencil to turn corners - Now I have a tool that does both and does it well. It fits nicely in the hand to press along the interior of seams on both straight and curved pieces, and the point is perfect for turning corners, no matter their size.
