I love this! It makes my seams lay so nice and flat and makes squaring up quilting blocks so much easier and accurate. How it works: you fill up the applicator the recommended amount and add 4 - 5 drops of the solution in. Replace the top of the applicator pen and then use it over your seams, sort of swiping across them in a fashion similar to using a fine tipped highlighter marker.

I thought at first this was going to be great, but the liquid left a mark on the fabric that was unable to be removed.

I originally purchased this pen to use when preparing applique pieces for stitching, and it works wonderfully well. I had watched the Karen Kay Buckley method of preparing leaves for applique, and she uses fabric sizing and a paintbrush. That looked pretty messy, so I decided to try adapting the technique by using the Clover Fabric Folding Pen instead. The shape of the point on the Fabric Folding Pen lends itself very well to tracing a line around the leaf template cut from heat-resistant plastic, so when you press the shape you end up getting a nice, crisp fold that will hold.Although the bottle of magic liquid looks pretty small, you literally only use a few drops in the pen before topping it up with water to use it, so that little bottle lasts for ages. And you can buy refills if you need to.I keep the pen stored vertically with the point well capped and facing up, so it's ready to go whenever I am. And of course, you could always just use the pen for what it was originally designed for to get rid of those stubborn, annoying lines in your fabric that just won't seem to budge just by ironing. Or for smoothing out any pressing mistakes.....I highly recommend it as a valuable little tool to add to your stash of patchwork and sewing tools.

I got a wild hair idea to make some linen napkins. Sometimes it is difficult to make a crisp crease, in linen especially, with just an iron, and even with steam plus starch, it still might not be what you want. This pen does a remarkable job in making a lovely crease. Makes my job easier.

If you sew anything that needs to have the seams turned or flat, you have GOT to have this.I make reversible tote bags for people in need. There is a LOT of turning and seams that need to be flat. This has cut about 15 minutes off the making of each bag. It does small nasty, so be in a good size room or open a window. The smell is worth putting up with to save a lot of time and have beautiful flat seams.

I'd give this little pen 100 stars if I could! It's amazing. It's the best sewing/quilting tool I have ever used. Just add a few drops of the solution to water in the pen as viola, instant pressing miracle. I sew quilts regularly with a group and was constantly having to walk over to an ironing station and wait for the iron. At our last sew-in, I used this pen on every seam I sewed and simply finger-pressed the seam down. I didn't have to leave my chair and it worked almost like an iron! I didn't actually iron my quilt blocks until I sewed them all together at the end of the day. My quilting friends were amazed at the flatness of my blocks. This stuff is amazing!!

Works fairly well for paper piecing or in the hoop projects. It definitely works best with cotton quilting fabric. Not sure of whether it’s a time saver for in the hoop as it’s necessary to remove the embroidery hoop from the machine to apply, so you may as well press or use a fabric roller. I tried to use on fabric backed with SF101 and it didn’t fold very easily and required pressing.

If you work with linen or any natural fabric with a mind of its own, you probably need this pen.I make most of the small linens and large altar linens at my parish - I figured out that I could get square squares by starching the heck out of the yardage - it's nearly like cardstock. So, I tamed the accurate cutting problem, but there was still the problem of folding double hems in straight lines and keeping the folds sharp long enough to sew the corner miters and turn them. Then, this wonderful bit of sewing sorcery came into my life. I use a ruler to draw straight lines and just lifting the edge of the fabric, it almost folds itself. This is not anything like how linen normally behaves - this is magic.I unfold the corners to mark them and sew them, cut the excess away and turn them and all the folds are still sharp enough that I can sew the hem down without even using pins. What a timesaver! I made two 2'×9' altar linens this morning - they have straight, even hems and square corners!I also found it useful in preparing appliqué pieces - trace around your plastic template and ease the sides up over it and finger press in place - beautiful edges as with starch-prepared appliqué, but not as hard to sew through by hand. No burned fingers, either. It seemed a little expensive, even for a tool fanatic - but I can't even guess how many hours this pen has saved me, over the years. Plus my work looks so much nicer - this is a true gift to yourself if you are a perfectionist about your work.I only wish that you could buy replacement nibs, because the liquid reacted with the metal ruler I used once and turned the nib gray. I keep that one for my colored fabrics and use the new one for white.
