As much fun as these were when i first put them on our tree, they cracked after being in place for just about half a year. Unfortunately, they were not made to last.

Not sure if our tree isn't big enough or what but my son, who loves climbing, was not very into it. He kept falling off and got frustrated. Maybe if there were more steps but it wasn't enough.

This looked like a fun idea for a maple tree in our yard that the kids have been itching to climb. The first branches are too far off the ground, so I thought this would give them a boost. It works ... sort of. I was able to attach the holds on the straps and secure the straps to the tree with the ratchets. So far, so good. A few spots on the tree, however, were not quite flat. As a result, the holds wobble, no matter how much the strap is tightened. The holds would work fine on a flat, artificial climbing wall, but with the rough, uneven surface of a tree, you have to be very careful to find places flat enough to brace them effectively. About a third of the holds I put up wobble, several to an unsafe degree. (I mean the hold itself bends downward almost 90 degrees when weight is placed on it, despite being cinched as tight as possible.)The straps and holds have proved durable, surviving our a rough winter with no obvious signs of wear or color fading. That's encouraging, for a product that you want to be safe and reliable. While not of the quality or texture that you'd get in a climbing gym, the holds are sturdy and usable. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked like I hoped it would. This kind of installation is just going to work much better on a flat, even surface.Oh, and one random thing. The instructions specifically mention putting no more than two holds on each strap. One of the product pictures shows three holds installed on single straps. You also get three of each color but not enough straps to install all the holds at two per strap. I opted for what the instruction say and have a useless handful of extra holds.UPDATE (6/27/23): As you can see from the pictures I've uploaded, two of our holds have cracked. I didn't see it happen, but only kids have been on these. I guess the weight of climbers proved too much for the plastic. Disappointing.

SO, I don't really have any little kids in my life and I got this more for the little kid inside a 41 year old adult body lol.I am very fit and I LOVE tree climbing and don't do enough of it. It's starting to get winter where I'm at, so I will have to hold off actually using these, but the testing of them went well... They do shift a bit when climbing, but are mostly very solid. I weigh about 135 pounds and it holds me just fine. Next year I plan to use these in addition to a kids zipline I got... I will use these to be able to access the tree high up enough to zipline.

These were super easy, altho semi time consuming, to install. Simple thread the desired amount of holds onto the strap and ratchet around the tree.Tips:It makes the process easier and sturdier to keep the strap flat so try and not let it be twisted. To use a ratchet strap make sure the ratchet top is facing you and not the tree.Wrap around the tree, keeping the strap untwisted, and open the retched part way and slide the strap into the rectangle hole in the middle of the ratchet. Pull to tighten but not all the way, leave a little slack. Then open and close the ratchet. This will begin to wind the strap around the ratchet mechanism. If you have too much strap, it will make ratcheting tough to make it right enough at the end. If you don't put enough strap in, it will be hard to have enough grip on the strap to keep it tight.I found that these work well for kids but less so for adults. I can climb them, but they want to to pull away from the tree and twist. It did not do this with the kids.

My grandson loves climbing on a climbing wall. So we got this for him to try out.It took us about 15 minutes to get everything set up.I would suggest a tree that is at least three feet around (but larger and smaller trees will work, just no too small).Once set up, my grandson climbed right up. No problems at all. This set basically turns a tree into a climbing wall! And it is sturdy enough that I could even climb it (I weigh 200lbs). So it is absolutely strong enough for kids to climb on (just make sure to tighten the straps properly). This may be my grandson's favorite outdoor toy.I'm actually thinking of getting another set or two for other trees! 👍
