This type of tape has so many uses that I couldn't begin to list them all. This particular tape seems very strong with good adhesive. I can't speak to the longevity of it yet, but I see no reason to believe that it won't hold whatever you use it on practically indefinitely.

Double sided tape has many uses. One of them is putting it on the bottom on small carpets and runners so they stay in place. This particular double sided tape is very thin, but also very sticky. It is a bit difficult to work with being so thin, as it is flimsy enough that it often sticks to itself as you're applying. Once that happens, you can not unstick it from itself. Start over, cut another piece, but be careful handling it. If you go slow and take your time you can manage to cut 6 inches, peel off the backing and apply it. It works well enough to hold the runner to a hard surface floor but of course you will need to clean the area where the tape will be very well first. Five stars.
