Stopped the leak to drain. A previous one bought on Amazon did not.

Our water softener has a Clack head like many water softener systems. The water softener started leaking from the discharge hose. It started small but was getting worse. We had to bypass the water softener using the bypass valves which turns off the water to the water softener so that we weren't just dumping water down the drain. We watched some videos on Youtube and found one about this specific problem. We ordered a special wrench to remove the core and take a look at the problem. It was very easy. When we pulled it out this spacer stack assembly was definitely the problem. One of the internal gaskets was falling apart. If one is bad, we know from experience that it's best to just replace the whole assembly while we have it apart to save time and worry. Gaskets get old and fail. The pistons were still in good shape so we just ordered the assembly here. Reassembly was a breeze and we are back to having soft water without any leaks. An easy DYI with the right tools. Total time was about 1 hour videos and 40 minutes of slow and careful work. We also ordered silicone valve grease and coated all those new gaskets just to be sure. Got to love it when a project ends up being easier than expected.

I’m on my 3rd one. Breaks in the middle during cycles. The gasket spins and locks it up. The. You can’t remove it.
