Used a few outside my home in an attempt to maybe keep some pesky mosquitos away. Product does not help whatsoever with that. In terms of aroma, yea it's nice, but again doesn't give off enough to make it useful outdoors.

Received in a nice package and the tin they are in also has cute designs. definitely citronella smelling, so I’m not sure why some reviews said the opposite. Happy with the purchase.

You get four citronella candles. They’re lightly scented. I thought it would be a little bit stronger. However they’re great to keep the mosquitoes away.I like the packaging. I think it’s very pretty. I like the colors on the candles.I like that it’s a nice metal tin to be easy to keep outdoors on my picnic tables. It comes with a cute little corkscrew/can opener. I used mine to open my first candle up.The way this is packaged it would be a wonderful gift to give. Especially if you were going to an outdoor picnic or party. It would be something nice that you could give us a gift for somebody getting a new home. Or even for a camper that likes to go on the weekends.

I never really thought citronella candles did much until a few summers ago. I would sit on a porch with other folks many nights, and a while after sunset the mosquitos arrived. I really dislike spraying myself with bug spray, so I would sit there, swatting and still getting bitten over and over again. One night someone showed up with two bucket candles, and they helped. I would still get bitten, but there were less. And that has been my experience since then, they help some.This is an attractive package with 4 candles. Each one is in a can, very much like a small paint can, with attractive labels. It also includes an opener (can, bottle, candle, corkscrew, little knife), printed with "A gift for you." This was broken when it arrived, but was able to see how it was supposed to be put together and fix it (the little wire for tension had sprung loose). This little gift will certainly end up in our trailer, can not count the number of times I have found myself camping and the bottle opener is missing.The candles are a bit smaller than I expected. 28 oz each. Cans were not filled to the top, which will protect the candle from blowing out if there is a breeze. They do have a much smaller wick than some of the larger candles on the market, so it will smoke less, but think it is that candle smoke that keeps the bugs away. There are 4 in this pack, so maybe all 4 burning on a picnic table will work better than the one with the larger wick?They do seem to help, but have not done any scientific studies. I have found that they work well in an area where the scent is contained a bit, like on a covered porch, or even on a table with a table umbrella. Seems out in the open like the scent rises up, and the bugs approach from the flanks.Not going to solve bug issues, but helps. And when you must be outside, dislike applying bug spray, anything that helps is better than nothing.
