Stay Away!!!! I ordered and received on Feb 25, placed it on my pantry floor (still in original packaging/box) waiting for a cold day to use and on March 5 (8 days later), the logs exploded, making a mess and leaving a weird smell in my home. Luckily nobody got hurt or damage caused to my home. Amazon is refunding me my money

Loved this product! We heat our house during the winter with only wood heat. These logs did well for our wood stove. We burnt them with a normal fire and have no complaints!

I don't use my fireplace often so don't get much build up. But still, I like to do a "maintenance" cleaning before fireplace season starts (that's about a month long for us here in South Texas). I use these in between my periodic fireplace inspections and professional cleanings. They have a built-in fire starter on one end (mine came with the two pieces connected by the fire starter cord). This would indicate that you can just burn the log by itself. However, if you read the directions, you are supposed to start a fire first, add the cleaning log, and then continue to add wood (if necessary) until the log has burned completely. There are no instructions with the logs themselves so you will need to go back to the product information on the site to find the prescribed use.

So I got these in preparation for our winter burns, so I haven't had a chance to use them. Unfortunately we haven't had a lot of fires yet, so it will be a bit before I can give a full objective review. Stay tuned.The packaging and instruction seem very straight forward. We'll see how well they lite and if the resultant smoke helps clean the chimney up.

I waited until I burned both logs to write a review. It seems like it loosened the soot from my smoke pipe and made it easier to clean out. The middle is filled with some weird powder that spilled out when I opened the package. They are cheap enough in my opinion to justify purchasing again specially since I feel like they did make a difference in my clean up. Super easy to use, just set em ablaze in your stove.

So we started our fireplace because it has gotten cold. These work great and are easy to use. Price wise even better. I definitely recommend these and they will save you money as well.
