I was disappointed I could not get the lift part to work. I washed on very top shelf in dishwasher, and it warped and somewhat melted. I have rarely been disappointed, but this product is not satisfactory

This cake and pie server looks exactly as advertised. It is a bit difficult to open and close in the beginning, but this is likely because it is new. This works well, to grab the cake and to dispense the cake right side up. However, this works best when the cake is a bigger piece. It is easy to take apart and to hand wash. Overall, this is a cute instrument to use to ensure your cake stays right side up when serving without the hassle.

I ordered this server as a way to limit touching cut pieces of pie, cake, etc. At first, I had trouble getting the plastic button unstuck, as others have mentioned. It does take a bit of “loosening” for it to slide easily. I don’t love that it’s plastic, as I worry about its longevity after several uses and washes (I would not put this in a dishwasher). Fortunately, the plastic feels more durable than your typical cheap dollar store kitchenware. It’s functional for casual get togethers or simple uses, but I likely won’t use this at the holiday dessert table as I don’t care for the look.

I'd been looking forward to having a second pie/cake server to help for hosting holidays. This one is very unimpressive. The plastic is very light and cheap feeling, it is absolutely not a smooth motion for sliding forward, in fact it gets stuck often even when just testing it empty, let alone when there's more weight on it. I would give this one a pass.

We ordered the Chef's Path Easy Release Cake and Pie Server to replace and older one that had broken after years of use. Unfortunately, I don't think this one is going to last anywhere near as long.Right out of the packaging the plastic feels hard and cheap. The blade of the cutter/server is actually two separate blades with the top one able to slide forward to get the piece of cake/pie onto the plate. There is a slight space between the two blades and that is one of the main issues. When we used this to cut a slice of cake, it started to separate and got stuff in between. The cake was fresh and nice and soft so it wasn't the density at all. The top blade still slid forward and we were able to get the slice onto the plate but it was a pain in the behind to clean between the top and bottom. While the piece worked, I think it works better as just a server after you have cut the cake/pie. It is working for our needs now, but I don't expect it to be a utensil that will last years unfortunately. It only costs $9 and the sliding is pretty unique though so it is worth it if you plan on using it only as a serving piece.
