These are about 1/4" thick and make a pretty big hole in the cheeses. Also, I thought the marker was going to be chalk and it is not. The problem is that the marker does not wipe off, it had to be soaked and scrubbed.

This item is very handy for entertaining, or if you've opened up a few different cheeses for yourself and have trouble remembering which cheese is which. Some cheeses are easy to identify, others can be confused. I've been entertaining for quite a few years and have always struggled with how to identify cheeses for my guests. This product solves that problem. They appear to be made from slate, have a nifty little chalk like marker to write the name of the cheese on the little sign. The signs have a sharp, dagger like spike that I use to push into the cheese so they are held firmly in place. They work great on hard cheeses, for soft cheeses they may start to fall as the cheeses really soften over time. A fix is to just lay it down so the spike is below the soft cheese and can easily be read laying on the serving board. They even include a nice fabric bag to put them in when you store them. Very inexpensive for what they are and once you have them and use them you'll be asking yourself why you didn't buy these sooner. The marker easily washes off with a little soft cloth or sponge and water so you can use these for years to come.

This cheese marker set came with 12 markers and 4 white crayons. The markers are made of natural slate and are a lot thicker and heavier than I was expecting. The slate is easy to chip and flake as shown in my last picture with flakes around the marker. A few also have some jagged edges which is expected since they are slate. The crayons are about 3 1/8" in length but only about 1/4" in diameter....1 was already broken in the box. The crayons write easily on the markers and they wipe off with ease. I'm just afraid that these markers will break easily and are a bit heavy to place in some lighter, flakier foods like cakes. They should work great in thicker foods like cheese. I'm looking forward to using them my next family gathering. Time will tell how well they hold up.

This set of 12 oval cheese labels are a perfect for entertaining. When using these, the sophistication level of your next cheese board will increase. They are a great way to label all the various cheeses on your charcuterie board. They are made of black slate and are easy to write on when using the included soapstone chalk. The labels are a nice size. They measure almost 2.5” x 2.5”. They wash and air dry well. These are very giftable. I think these cheese labels make a perfect hostess gift for any cheese lover – small and a nice price point. (I only wish they came better packaged for gift giving.) Since they are made of slate, they are very sturdy and are reusable. I am not sure how they would hold up to being dropped on a hard floor. Overall, they are an attractive way to label cheese and a very giftable item. One of my sisters is the Queen of Charcuterie Board Makers and she would love to get these as a gift.

I bought these to match some slate markers for a cheese board I own, but they were of poor quality, with differing thicknesses and badly cut, ragged edges. They come with a small cloth storage bag that only fits half of them, and they are unsealed, unlike the markers that came with my cheese board. One of the chalk pencils was also broken. Would not recommend.

Believe it or not, these were the hit of my last party. Everyone wanted to know where I got the adorable little cheese markers. Frankly, I think they liked the markers more than the cheese. I'll just have to get better cheese next time. Seriously, though, these markers are a joy to use and a breeze to clean.
