I have the Oklahoma Joe longhorn smoker/propane grill, I enjoy using it, but the firebox allows the coals to be spread all over sometimes falling out the side door when opened. It also is difficult to keep the coals even and centralized. I like to use the grates for the firebox for charcoal grilling, but would get very uneven heat with using it how it comes. This solves both those problems, it keeps the coals in a nice centralized location and the high walls of the new basket allow you to evenly spread the coals without them falling off the grates or out the vent door. Would give 5 stars but it is a little tall and the grates do not rest on the rim of the factory firebox, the new fire basket is wide enough though that they balance nicely on it.

This stainless steel basket was easy to assemble and works well. I built my own cement block and firebrick smoker that has an offset firebox. I start with a wood fire for the smoke but when smoking brisket there is a long time where the brisket is wrapped that you only need heat. I can fill this basket with charcoal and set it on the wood coals to light. Then I can move the hot charcoal in the basket to the "meat" side of the smoker to provide the heat to get the brisket through the stall. I can also do the same with wood coals in the basket. This basket is well built and since it is stainless steel I expect it to last a long time.

This little basket fits quite well in my smoker. It's great having a small cage like this for airflow and constant yet low heat in the chamber. I love that once the charcoal in red hot in there, it's pretty much set it and forget it for a long while.

I guess I miss read what this is used for. I got it to hold small firewood for my fire pit. Works for me and matches my fire pit material.

Fits the firebox well and easy to use both charcoal and/ or wood splits for the fire. The stainless steel appears to be solid and that it will last. I'm not keen on the screws but it isn't the end of the world. Mostly I don't like them because heating and cooling tends to loosen them over time - at least with other products I've used.So far, this is a workable solution. I typically just take a couple grates and form a "V" in the firebox to promote airflow. This seems to be working along those lines and keeps everything contained a bit better. I haven't tried a long brisket cook but worked well with ribs.
