Chapin’s 82104B professional salt spreader is designed and built as a professional, contractor spreader to spread ice melt and salt along sidewalks and professional buildings and is simple enough for a homeowner to use as a salt spreader for their driveway. Our professional salt spreader includes a spiked auger to tear up clumps of salt or ice melt to not clog while spreading. Its rubber grips on the t-shaped stainless steel handle make it easier to push along uneven surfaces, especially while wearing gloves. The 82104B professional salt spread comes with a fixed rear and adjustable side baffles to control where you’re spreading and an adjustable gate to control the amount you’re spreading. A rain cover and grate is included. This unit is not recommended for use with rock salt, sand, or sand mixes. Made in the USA with global materials and backed by Chapin’s 5-year limited warranty.

You cannot you this spreader with sand or rock salt. The spreader blades are only made of plastic & will not last through heavy use.

Plastic knob agitator is too small to move material inside of hopper. An inch of material remained in hopper even bouncing the spreader. Had to dig out by hand.

The only problem I had was, when I was putting it together I put handles on wrong they should lable them left and right, I used it and the salt spread easily and wide. I went down the middle of my driveway and it covered it in one swoop. I like this product and would recommend it to other people

Recently purchased the 82104B to tackle the ice on my drive way and sidewalks. The spreader came in a well packaged large box with all parts were present and clearly marked. Took about 40 minutes to assemble. The instructions could be a bit clearer on assembly but the form and fit of the spreader is done well and everything comes together as it should. Control lever is a nice feature to limit the amount of salt coming out but the real game changer are the three baffles at the bottom of the hopper that gives this spreader directionality and helps keep the salt where I want it! Great feature. To top it off the hopper cover is perfect, keeps the sleet and snow off the salt. Great product would recommend!

I finally decided to purchase a salt spreader for my driveway and side walks. I have used Chapins's single row seeder in the past with great results. I figured I would give 82104B a try. It took about an hour to put together. The spreader came in a large box with easy to follow directions. Once I put it together, I topped off the tires with a little more air, and added some grease to the gear box. Off I went. I put in a 25lb bag of salt (82104b can handle 80lbs). It was quick and easy to cover my drive way. The spreader has a lever to control how much salt comes out. My favorite detail is how it comes with a plastic grate thar stops the large clumps of salt from hitting and damaging the auger. Very happy so far.

Only had time to assemble and push around my driveway, but it is a heavy-duty monster. Love the large tires and stainless frame. I will update my review once I get some snow/ice in my area and get some Ice melt to spread! - Update: Feb 29 we had significant snowfall and I was ready this time! After the plow guy plowed away 8 inches on my driveway and we cleared the walk, this spreader performed great. 2 passes on the driveway did the trick. One pass on the walk with the baffles down. perfect timing because we had a mini ice storm the next morning the driveway and walk remained wet. When the temp warmed up the next day I rinsed off the salt and wiped it down - I want this to last!
