Got these for a diy experiment. With some tinkering I got them to open and close the roof of my chicken coop. Seems to work as expected and without any complications.

While I grabbed the wrong model, the product performs well - moving it between the fridge and the room as an experiment, these do contract and expand readily, and with considerable force. I can't evaluate the fit, but the basic functionality seems solid. Production-wise, the machining seems very clean - the coating is smooth and consistent without drips, scrapes, or other other defects. The thread is clean, and the piston motion appears smooth and well lubricated.

Unfortunately, these “CHANGE MOORE Replacement Cylinders” are not a direct replacement for our greenhouse cylinders. This is not to say that these cylinders are bad—it’s just that they do not work with our GH windows. The cylinders seem perfectly fine. If they fit and worked for us, I would have given them 5-stars.

My 9 year old Solar Gem greenhouse had a vent that wasn't opening nearly as much as it used to. So I tried this Change Moore brand replacement since it says it designed for common vent openers. It fit perfectly! It works better than the original - I am so happy with this replacement! The best part is that it works on a spring, no mention of any low or freezing temperature dangers. I was strictly warned not to let the original vent openers freeze or they would be damaged since they worked with wax?!?! Something to do with the temperature at which they start opening the vents. Strange, but I have been very proactive about removing them over winter, but still they have degraded over time. I am going to replace the other opener with another one of these Change Moore replacements. I believe they will last a long, long time.

I ordered cylinders so that I will always have replacements on hand. We have used these cylinders in conjunction with the hinges (sold separately) to automatically open and close our greenhouse windows. We currently have 4 operating and they have been working flawlessly throughout the season. There are no installation instructions with these cylinders but there are plenty of online videos to assist. It's important to refrigerate them prior to installation and to remove them in the winter so they don't freeze. Also, the rods inside the cylinders will bend so be careful not to lean on the window or try to push the window shut manually.

I have a Juliana greenhouse with automatic vent openers. The cylinder goes out every 8 or so years so you need to replace them. These fit my openers perfectly and work as good as the originals.
