Ceramic Mexican tiles fired at high temperatures are absolutely fine for pools and fountains in mild climates where there is no danger of freezing. Again, don’t be misled by claims of tile being “frost-proof”.
Even ceramic tile will over time, absorb water and if allowed to then freeze, it will crack. Only porcelain tiles should be used in climates with frost risk. If you only rarely experience freezing temperatures, you can protect your pool tiles by keeping the pool FULL all winter and using a frost blanket.
Porcelain Mexican tile are fired to an extremely high temperatures to achieve a truly waterproof tile. It is not affected by freezing temperatures. Although you pay more for a porcelain tile, the peace of mind will be worth it.

Matches exactly in shape, pattern and color of our originals...but these are stenciled (Probably still applied by hand) and very precisely painted, our originals are irregularly obviously hand painted- but since they will be used as a border on another wall I am sure the subtle diff will not be noticed. I am pleased to even find the match.
