While I did end up buying quite a few accessories for this, I think it’s a good telescope right out of the box. The only criticism I have is the tripod. It could have been a little more beefy for the telescope. I don’t feel comfortable raising it to it’s full height, so I have to bend over (or kneel on the ground) for viewing. The WiFi connection to the laptop along with my DSLR helps with that for live viewing, but not for using the spotter scope . I Recommend this scope for the ease of use and good quality. Do yourself a favor and buy a lens kit, moon filter, dew shield and most important the Celestron SkySync GPS module.

This telescope is exactly what I wanted, i.e, one big enough to see the planets, compact enough to transport, and automated enough to find what I wanted to see. The only disappointment was that the finder scope was missing from the box. Rather than deal with Amazon returns on a 40 lb. delivery, I just ordered and paid for one for $25.
