Only reason I give the 2 stars is the motor. The motor itself is fantastic! Fast, responsive, and high quality. The ESC however was garbage. I followed the instructions to the T and double triple checked all my wires. As soon as I plugged it in, the fan went to max speed and the power switch did absolutely nothing. As soon as I gave it a little bit of throttle the ESC popped and took my $50 receiver and $30 gyro with it. I took the ESC apart and it had a couple blown capacitors and what looked like faulty wiring from the factory. Go hobbywing instead, that's what I did and have had no issues

I've been in the RC car hobby for about 47 years so I saw the evolution of brushless motors/ecs and lipo batteries. Brands like Novak and Tekin started this "revolution" and everyone followed. Castle Creations was fashionably late to the brushless motor party, but eventually made a splash with their tagline "Overpowering RC since 1997." 100% true, and they have continued to improve their products ever since. This is probably the 10th motor/esc I've bought from Castle, and it's the only brand I use anymore. Super fast and powerful with real durability. Highly recommended!

Esc started smoking after first couple minutes barely went 10 ft but Motor is good now esc won't turn on

This kit is awesome! It will only work in a 1/16 e revo with the brushed motor mount. The fan on the motor is necessary. Mine has never been above 120 degrees F. I have a 28 tooth pinion and a 50 tooth spur running on 3s. It has been working flawlessly, and it does at least 65mph. My tires are now destroyed though 🤣. Some more upgrades may be required.

If this picture was in every Castle post for a combo system, I would have gotten what I wanted without having to search other sites to get all the information needed to make the right purchase. I missed important info when I bought this combo so I had to return it as a result. Needed a 3800kv to not burn up the motor at the weight of the RC I intended to install it into. Outside of that the SW4 has a set BEC and it's not set to 6v just like my SW3 it's a 5V BEC. Not a big deal unless you are competing.

Put this in my onroad car and it is awesome!!! The sidewinder 4 is an awesome esc that runs nice and cool!! Runs waaay longer than the brushed system on a battery. The motor does get fairly hot to the touch after 30-45 minutes (about one battery) I haven’t checked the temp for sure though. I always run it on 2s with the throttle set at 65% because unless you are doing a straight high speed run 100% is just uncontrollable. Th

It fits my rustler perfectly with a lot of space for upgrades. It’s gotten my stock rustler to 57mph out of the box...but it wasn’t even 90 days of having it before the esc gave out...it’s been weeks and still no response from the seller
