TOUGH ON CRUST, GENTLE ON SEASONING - Clean without detergent or chemical to preserve your seasoning.
HOW TO CLEAN CAST IRON SKILLET & CARBON STEEL COOKWARE:
1) Wash Right Away: Clean the skillet immediately after use, while it is still hot or warm. Don’t soak or leave it in the sink because it may rust.
2) Add Hot Water: Handwash the skillet using hot water and the chainmail scrubber or brush. (Wear gloves if the water is extra hot!) Avoid using the dishwasher, soap, or steel wool, as these may strip the skillet’s seasoning.
3) Scrub Off Stuck-On Bits: To remove stuck-on food, scrub the skillet with scraper and water. Then rinse or wipe with towel. Stubborn food residue may also be loosened by boiling water in the skillet.
4) Dry The Skillet: Thoroughly towel dry the skillet or dry it on the stove over low heat.
5) Oil It: Using a cloth or paper towel, apply a light coat of vegetable oil or melted shortening to the inside of the skillet (outside is optional). Buff to remove any excess.
6) Put It Away: Store the skillet in a dry place.
