I got this for my mom and she's totally in love with it! She loves how versatile this walkman is compared to her old Sony walkman. Price was not bad for all this little device can do. Overall, it gets great reception and sound quality which is exactly what one looks for in such a device.

If you are the generation that still has boxes of various tapes, this is going to be a fun device to play with! Quite inexpensive and yet really packed with features. Tape player, recorder, FM / AM radio and even a built in speaker and microphone. A fantastic toy to confuse a teenager! The built quality is on the low side. The unit is definitely delicate and I doubt it would survive a drop to the floor. The tape operation works fine and I didn't detect any issues with the playback speed. The player has an auto stop function but it does not have auto reverse. The unit reminds me of some of the low end portable players. The buttons feel absolutely authentic. The sound of rewinding the tape is just magical although the rewind speed is really slow. The radio works well, although tuning of tightly spaced radio stations is tricky as there isn't much resolution to the analogue tuning wheel. I didn't have any issues picking up any of the local AM or FM stations. In the age of smartphones the idea of recording music from the radio onto tapes is bizarre, but this device can do that too. Quality as expected. I like the nostalgia factor, but I'm sticking to streaming services. The player comes bundled with a set of earbuds and an external microphone. Both work reasonably well, but definitely are on the cheaper side. I really, really wish the manufacturer included a set of the old fashioned over the head headphones with cheap orange foam pads! One issue that I'm wondering about is whether this player actually offers stereo playback. Everything that I put through it sounds very much "centered". I thought that It might be the quality of my old tapes, but the FM radio sounds similar. Not really sure if it is mono, but there isn't much separation between left and right channels. All things considered, I'm still very happy with this player. It's definitely more of a toy than something serious, but in a pinch it can be very useful. I think if the radio could also tune into weather channels it would make for a nice, portable, AA powered emergency receiver. Overall, for the price, it's a really fun unit!

I have a lot of old cassette tapes from the 1980s, and I’ve needed a reliable player that I can use to listen to them. This little cassette player and recorder is perfect for what I need. To be honest, I won’t be doing any recording with this. Although it’s possible to still get them, I don’t have any new cassettes. And I won’t have any reason to record using this player.I only have the old beloved tapes that are 80s mixes, and recordings of older family members. Those latter tapes are cherished, and I’m so happy to say that I’m using this player to hear their voices again. The sound quality is excellent! The player itself is designed like the retro 80s style Walkman, which means it’s boxy and kind of clunky, having a bit of weight to it. The cassette compartment is manually opened. This isn’t fancy tech, and I don’t think it needs to be. There’s a sense of nostalgia in how this cassette player is designed. It functions both as a player/recorder and a radio. The play/stop/fast forward/rewind/record buttons will be very familiar to those of us who grew up in the 1980’s. It even has a clip that can be attached. I remember clipping my own Walkman to my belt. I won’t be using the clip for this one. There is also a set of earbuds, which allow decent sound quality for listening. Because I won’t be recording with this cassette player, I won’t be using the clip-on microphone, also included. The cassette player requires 2AA batteries and has a USB cord for use to plug into a power source. There is no adaptor included. The most important thing about the cassette player and recorder is that it functions beautifully, and I can once again listen to tapes that have been in storage for years. I am transported back in time to my teen years when I listen to my mixed music tapes, and I can hear my grandmother’s voice again when she recorded stories that she told us.All things considered, this cassette player and recorder has met my expectations and suits my needs. It gets a solid 5 stars!

I wanted to get a cassette player for my mother so that she can listen to some of her old tapes, so this Semier product caught my eye. It has a range of functions (AM/FM, cassette, recording, built-in speaker, etc.) and comes with a microphone, belt clip, and a surprisingly decent set of earbuds. For all the functions, the performance isn’t exactly stellar. Build quality is fairly light in general, and I don’t think it would take much to break it. The radio sounds good, but reception is quite weak and the tuner is fidgety. Audio quality when playing tapes is mediocre, tending to be muffled and bass-heavy. Of course, part of that may just be that I’m playing tapes from the 80’s, but I haven’t noticed the same issues when I play them in other devices. Lastly, it’s goes through batteries pretty quickly when playing tapes.Pros:-Lots of features; comes with earbuds and plug-in microphone-Can use built-in speaker or headphones-Can record to tapeCons:-Light build quality-Radio sounds fine, but reception is weak and tuner is jittery-Audio quality isn't great when playing tapes-Uses up batteries quickly in tape mode-No power LEDAt $32.99 I think it’s a tad expensive for the quality, but I do like that it has the added recording option. I’m going to allow it 3.5 stars, but I’d strongly recommend that you shop around a little to see what else is available before ordering. My rating: 3.5 stars

I ordered this because my wife and myself are of an age where we used to create our own mix tapes, taped old radio shows and recorded ourselves singing or talking onto cassette tapes that havent been played in years. It’s fun to put an old tape in and listen to something from so long ago in our lives.Physically this player is very reminiscent in size and shape of portable players we had as kids. Though it differs in that it has a speaker, microphone and extendable antenna. I never had those on mine but maybe now the technology has shrunk to a point where they can fit more in the same space. The radio reception isn't very powerful and tuning the radio takes a delicate touch. Even with the antenna fully extended someone walking past the radio can partially block the signal. The case is plastic and feels very plastic, this isn't a very robust player. It comes with headphones, a microphone and a power cable, none of which are particularly good quality. The speaker sounds better than the headphones. Thankfully a couple of my over ear headphones come with 9mm cables so I’ll be able to keep using this when the headphones die. There is no bluetooth of course. The belt clip sticks on, I wish they had put a way to clip on and remove the belt clip but you have to stick it on so I don't want it there all the time so I don’t use it.The player is powered by 2 AA batteries or you can use a power cable that plugs into a USB-A port on a computer. The round power adapter on the player side does not plug all the way in but it still powers the player. This player has some issues and might not be the best quality by modern standards but it definitely reminds me of similar players and radios of my youth and that is the niche it’s trying to fill. It has it’s flaws but if you want to listen to your youth this is a good way to do it.

Aside from the cool 80's memories this stirred up for me, it worked flawlessly to replay some old cassettes I had been itching to hear... now, if I can hold back from getting out the Aqua Net and leg warmers out, I'll be ok.

I'm giving this product 2 stars because the radio works. But it promptly ate the 37 year old cassette tape. This tape survived almost 4 decades only to be eaten within seconds of using this machine. Please save yourself this sadness and just try to find an old actual walkman somewhere.

I bought this cassette player to play some old cassette tapes of my family singing. The player itself connected well to head phones and the buttons are easy to push. I guess the product was ok for the money, but the quality of sound is poor. When playing, the sound almost hurt my ears. Function of the player is spot on. The total quality of this player is good.
