I have a bunch of cassette tapes I was going to convert to digital with this. I started the process and the songs were all garbled. I thought I was too late to convert the tapes but I decided to try a tape in my truck cassette deck. They were fine; played great. This piece of junk was crap from the get-go. Conversion was the only reason I bought it. Don't waste your money.

I wanted a simple solution for backing up audio cassettes and this fits the bill. My first impression was poor as the product just isn't sturdy, It feels flimsy and cheap, as if you could easily break it, but played back my old tapes well. It was a bit confusing because when connected to my computer, I couldn't hear anything through my computer speakers. Plugging a pair of headphones into the player itself and not the computer fixed this. Audacity didn't work for me, despite the instructions. I wound up using a different audio capture app and all was well.

I was worried this would be cheesy and hard to use, but I was wrong. Actually it has been great to copy some old tapes and then get rid of them. You do have to learn how to use the recording program Audacity, but once you get the hang of it you will find it handy for recording other things, too. I recommend this product.

At our wedding, one of my husbands best friends/groomsman gave him a “The Simpson’s: Sing the Blues” cassette that they listened to on repeat when they were kids. I decided to surprise my husband with a cassette player. I was so excited to find this one that not only plays the cassette, but also has the capability to help you convert the music to your phone. My 38-year old husband was like a kid on Christmas morning when he opened it up and put his cassette in. It is so easy to use and has great sound quality! The headphones aren’t high tech like some of the ones you see today, but that doesn’t matter at all because they sound very clear and great for what they are, and it’s the reminiscing for him that makes it so fun...and seeing him so happy and excited made it fun for me too!

I bought this as a gift for my granddaughter. She liked it and it was easy to use. I sent all 6 books, the cassette tapes for the 6 books, and the 6 DVD’s. I couldn’t find my tape player so I ordered this one. They were very happy and this will give them something to do since we are all being careful and not getting out much. I loved Harry Potter and I hope they enjoy him to.

The item turned out to just be a tape recorder. The USB cord did not connect to my laptop. The only way to record was to connect some speakers to the tape recorder and then use the microphone on my laptop to record the music and that made the quality very bad. But at least I can listen to my old tapes but as far as converting them to mp3 to save on my computer, that was a lost cause.

RE the headline, the player installation disk comes with Audacity software. I suggest just going to Audacity and download to make sure you have the latest version. Actual "installation" is not really needed - I just plugged it in to a USB port and used it.The player is a bit on the flimsy side, but it's inexpensive - what can you say. The main thing to watch for is the release for the door. It's a bit crowded on that side with the USB cable plugged in (more so with the included earbuds plugged in) so takes a delicate touch. It is designed to click shut after you load a cassette, but I suggest using the catch release when closing to avoid wear and tear on the latch. The good stuff.I have a large collection of old cassette tapes. Using this player to input into Audacity to digitize my old music before the cassettes are totally gone (most of these are from around 1980).The player does an excellent job for this purpose. The audio output through the earbuds (also cheap) is decent.TIP: The volume knob which controls output to the earbuds also effects the volume level going in to Audacity. So if you turn down the volume to listen through the earbuds, turn it back up to get a good volume level for recording in Audacity.TIP: Highly recommend Audacity. Free, open source software. They also have extensive documentation and guides on their website. For my use, I really only used Noise Reduction and Normalization effects. Some Click Removal, and once in a while a Fade In or Fade Out. Suggest you read up before using.Bottom line, this cassette player works fine for what I'm using it for, and well worth the price. The noise cancellation is pretty good. The common 'squeal' you sometimes get from old cassettes turning is not transmitted through the audio.I've gone through around 50 cassettes so far, about half of them, and still going strong.UPDATE:A few days after writing the review, the Fast Forward button just quit working. I had used it, so I know it worked at first. The funny thing is I rarely used it, so not sure when it actually gave up. Fortunately, Rewind still works fine.

The product arrived but was clearly not brand new. It was used as it had scratches all over it and a loose cassette cartridge indicating previous use.
